the_rev Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 If I didn't mention how many times you go,then specify please. Also do you go to your parish priest, or do you find a different preist? I just can't see going to confession with my parish priest, i'm gonna start going once a month, because that is what Mary said in Medugorje, and if mary said it, then Jesus told her to tell the visionaries.
Ash Wednesday Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I put five, but I think realistically it would be more like three or four.... :sadder: I'm a chicken.
BullnaChinaShop Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I go about 6 or 7: once about every month and a half to two months, or more frequently if we (my wife or I) have commited mortal sin. I have always gone to my parish priest, but I prefer to confess behind the screen.
VeraMaria Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I can't, parents won't take me. ditto. -_- i was confirmed in May, and we had to go to confession before that...parents haven't taken me since then...and won't. i really, really, really want to go before Christmas :sadder: :sadder: :sadder: :sadder:
FaustinaVianney Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I try to go every week, but being a college student studying athletic training I'm not always able to, but I did go every week this summer. I love going to confession! I go to my parish priest, who is also my spiritual director (he's helping me to discern a Rel Life vocation). I usually get so nervous that I forget half the sins I've committed but going in and saying at least three of them helps so much!! :)
Ash Wednesday Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Vera, perhaps a parishioner, or an older teen or youth group leader would be willing to give you a ride? If you were at my parish I would give you a ride! :D :motorcycle:
foundsheep Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I go or try to go every Friday evening.
VeraMaria Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Vera, perhaps a parishioner, or an older teen or youth group leader would be willing to give you a ride? If you were at my parish I would give you a ride! :D :motorcycle: yeah, i tried that... The problem is, since my parents never go to Mass and are 0% involved in my parish, they say they can't let me go with "strangers", even though i tell them that's ridiculous because when i offer to introduce them to my friends, they refuse. -_- But thanks, i wish i lived near you, Ash... :sadder: :sadder: :sadder:
VeraMaria Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Do you go to mass on the weekends? my parents only take me sometimes. if i beg really, really hard.
VeraMaria Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 after mass, i could ask the priest for a confession. but i don't know when the next time will be!! last time i asked him and he agreed to hear my confession, but then a woman who was going to have an abortion but knew it was wrong and was at her wits end just burst into the church and fell at the priest's feet and asked him for guidance, and he looked at me and i nodded, i mean she was way needier than i. and then my mom picked me up.
LTNgurl Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 i just got started going back to church, and i havent done my first communion, yet.
VeraMaria Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 i just got started going back to church, and i havent done my first communion, yet. when are you planning on doing your first communion?? if i was you, i wouldnt wait!! :D :D :D
sista2b Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 i usually go every week but, i think its been about 2 now.
sista2b Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 i forgot to say who i go to. Same as FaustinaVianney. parish preist and spiritual director. Hes a geat confessor.
Khet Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 (edited) I used to go about once every 2 years, but for the last few years i'ts been every other week. I have a hard time going longer than two weeks these days. Who would have thought it would be such a powerful sacrament? Edited December 14, 2003 by Khet
Janana8706 Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 i go at lent and advent, it depends the priest, cuz we go thru school, and they have diff. area priests each day so that all the classes can go.
cathgirl Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 i'm gonna start going once a month, because that is what Mary said in Medugorje, and if mary said it, then Jesus told her to tell the visionaries. I wish I would do more of everything that Mary said in Medjugorje. (In fact even Joan of Arc went as often as she could for every little thing and I'm sure she wasn't half the sinner I am!) I don't go to confession nearly as often as i should. Once or twice a year which is terrible! Our parish only has it on Saturdays all year and Fridays during Lent. I have a pretty big family and by the time we get ready to go to church, confessions done. I guess if there's a will there's a way, but it doesn't seem like anyone else in my family cares enough about it to really want to make it. Thanx for bringing up this topic, I hadn't really thought about it enough before. God Bless!! Karmen
