inDEED Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 This is to let everyone know that the Open Mic area of Phatmass is for lurkers/posters/viewers of ALL AGES! Therefore, ALL CONTENT shall be "G" Rated! If you don't know what that means, please shoot me an e-mail or private message and I'd be happy to explain. Topics/posts/replies that aren't suitable for audiences of EVERY age will either be deleted or moved to the Back Alley. I'd ask that if anyone sees any material that does not seem suitable for this phorum, please let either myself or Az know ASAP! Keep it clean, pham... Peace.
Good Friday Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 I'd think it would be best to define what is and is not considered G-rated by Phatmass. For instance, some may not think a picture of an unborn baby discarded in abortion is G-rated, yet many pro-lifers use such images and one may eventually be posted here (if it hasn't already). Is that considered G-rated by Phatmass? That's just one example. There really needs to be some kind of definition.
VeraMaria Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 rock on. :D and there's no one under 14 here. as far as we know. so evevrything COULD be PG-13. not that it has to be. <_<
littleflower+JMJ Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 its a matter of being considerate and of courtesy. and that age poll doesn't count the lurkers, visiters or anyone else. thanks inDouche. this is amesome!! :)
IcePrincessKRS Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Whoa.... dUSt is a cheerleader......

Norseman82 Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Common sense should indicate what is G rated. Unfortunately, I've found that common sense is not as common as it used to be....
Azriel Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Unfortunately, I've found that common sense is not as common as it used to be.... True enough...which is why we need to rely on each other.
VeraMaria Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Whoa.... dUSt is a cheerleader...... i KNEW it!
Don John of Austria Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 sO ONCE AGIAN WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE THOUGHT POLICE. nO GOOD CAN COME OF THIS.
Don John of Austria Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 oops I wasn't yelling I just didn't know Caos lock was on. I REALLY think we should have a formal definition of what is acceptable.
socalscout Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Hi All Cradle Catholic 35 years. Left the Church for a 20 year stint of self indulgence. Now I am back and very happy. Have a great day!
Azriel Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 oops I wasn't yelling I just didn't know Caos lock was on. I REALLY think we should have a formal definition of what is acceptable. Dude - its been done, check the Phorum Guidelines link at the top of the page.
Don John of Austria Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 I see no referance to rated G in the phorum guidelines.
Azriel Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 All rated G means is that there are underage visitors here ... if you wouldn't want your underage child, neice, nephew etc ... to see it ... don't post it. G rated means the things that are said in the phorum guidelines, no vulgarity ... etc etc. As far as thought police, inDeed and I are only two people. There is no way we can read everything. So, it would be impossible to police every post. We can either set up a myriad of rules and regs that actually do stifle discussion ... or we can rely on everyone to use common sense. If you gotta problem with a certain Mediator of Meh, take it up with them or dUSt. EDIT: inDeed called it G-rated before the Phorum Guidelines were written. In the Phorum Guidelines it states content as Mature: Mature Content - a post or comment that has a subject matter not appropriate for underage visitors. The moderators will be asked to use good judgement, so please use common sense. Note: This should not be confused with theological or intellectual restrictions--this guideline only applies to the subject--not the level of discussion.
Don John of Austria Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 I'm still worried and it's not really about you or Indeed, but more about all this "reporting" it seems to me it will stifle discussion.

Well ... tell ya what. We've always been able to report posts, and they went directly to Dust. Now, we get the notifications. I can only say that just because something is reported, doesn't necessarily mean it will moved. Its still up to us to use good judegment. I, for one, am going to try my hardest to not let that happen. As with any new thing, time will tell.
