OP_MOM Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 Hello Lauren, Thanks for your prayers for Sr. Marjorie. It's so nice to read all the good wishes, knowing that you all support her. I will be sure to let her know that you have asked about her. While we visited Lockport, I took a million pictures, only to find when I returned home that I had one of the settings wrong on my camera when I took the pictures and only a handful of them turned out. Everything I posted eventually came up - I just wasn't doing it right at the beginning.

Well, Maybe on your next visit. When is Marjorie allowed visitation? Is it just once a year or more? Is she allowed to come home for some vacation? I know some apostolic orders allow you time to come home and visit family. God Bless you! Edited February 23, 2006 by Laurentina1975
magnificat Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006
One thing about the habit is that it paradoxically, makes every nun or sister stand out. Because they all look the same, you can more clearly see their shining spirits. The superficial is gone, and the heart shines thru. magnificat Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Thanks OP Mom! I'll definately write her soon...can she write back or does she have to wait until Easter?

Sr. Marjorie can receive numerous visits from us - basically once a month except during Lent and Advent. Since we live a good distance from Lockport, it is unlikely that we'll travel there more than a couple of times a year. Although few things are written in stone, the monastic nature of the Monastery of the Heart of Jesus generally doesn't include making outside visits.

During Lent and Advent, when the sisters observe the solemnity of the season, they neither write nor receive personal mail. During the balance of the year, they receive their mail on Sundays. Sr. Marjorie writes to immediate family members once a month and to others at Christmas.
sistersintigo Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Sr. Mary Agnes OP, isn't that her name in religion now? Bumping this thread up, because it might do some of us Vocation Station people a power of good, to know someone who entered and is still there. Aren't Sr. Mary Agnes's photos on the Lockport monastery's blog?
Saint Therese Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I think it would be more appropriate to direct that question and others regarding community affairs to the community itself.
