GodChild Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 St Louis is mighty waffly! I got a headache the first time I read the 'True Devotion' as its all just a little to 'philosophical' and 'theological' for me. I find the maternity of Mary to the be the most beautiful thing expounded in the work and I'm making the consecration for the first time on Jan 1st - the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

TeresaAvila Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 oh I agree it is the best, I consecrated myself last year on the feast of St. Louis Marie De Montfort, and it was such a joy, I highly recommend it to anyone!
sanctafamilia Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 My formor spiritual director was a tertiary of the Franciscans of the Immaculata. Her name in religion is Sr. joseph Mary Maximilian and she lives an hour from me.
shortnun Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Another community that does the de Montfort consecration: Sisters of Mary, Queen

the lords sheep Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I believe most of the Sisters of life make one of the Marian consecrations. I've talked about it with one of the Sisters before... from what I remember it is the Sister's choice which she uses but it is encourage (possibly required?) that she make one... Don't quote me though....

Thomist-in-Training Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Bump! (I'm trying to remind myself to reread "True Devotion.")
VeniteAdoremus Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Next Sunday a bunch of young adults in my diocese will make the Consecration at the convent of the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara (who already got a lot of attention in this thread ). I'll be among them. At the moment I just have a deal with our Mother that if I accidentally happen to do something right for a change, she gets to distribute the rewards as she sees fit (which saves me a lot of bookkeeping: "this was for the most lonely soul in purgatory, this for the second-loneliest...")

It's Pentecost too and, I just realized, the anniversary of my First Holy Communion. I will pray for you! Is there a good thread around here about the Servants? I know very, very little of them but I read that they are working on a project to translate the works of Cornelio Fabro, a recent Thomist scholar, which is the kind of work that sounds fascinating to me. (The other question is, what are they translating them into?)
VeniteAdoremus Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 There should be a thread And what they're translating him into... who knows? The sisters in our diocese all speak Spanish, Italian, English and Dutch. And one of them also French, I believe. ;D
tnavarro61 Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 we wrote a letter to the Friends of Our Lady apostolate. A member of our lay community introduced the consecration to us and it seems very beautiful after visiting this thread!
