It's simple, but it was founded by a guy who could be beatified someday...ever read about Fr. De Smet?
Whoever said a church was supposed to be a place of discomfort? They're padded seats. Not recliners or thermo-massage.

might as well TAKE OUT THE KNEELERS. they are so comfortable on your knees!!!
honestly the floor to me is a lot less harsh on the knees than the kneelers.

This is mine on the outside:

and this is it on the inside:

It's a small church compared to the ones above. It used to be a lot prettier according to pictures, but some wackos in the '70s ripped out the high altar. :sadder: We do have gorgeous stained glass windows, however.

Ash Wednesday

I've noticed that in a lot of churches they are installing new altars that are a little more traditional, with the Blessed Sacrament back in the center of the church -- replacing some of the stupid things people did in the 70s. Lucky for enthusiasts of traditional church architecture -- people are learning that 70s architecture and decor don't age well. :hehe:

stained glass is something im fairly picky about. having such wonderful stained glass in my own church i almost expect it in others. im often disappointed.

The stupid thing is that they forced their architectural fads on our poor generation. Maybe if our parish got a more orthodox pastor, we'd try to fix my church. It would be expensive though. That large semi-wall with the curved top is solid cement under the paint.

JMJ
3/29 - Fourth Wednesday of Lent

I went to this parish last Sunday in Chicago...St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Can you believe that, fifteen years ago, this parish was so run down and poor that they had closed it, shuttered it up, and scheduled it for demolition? Thank Hashem that Cardinal Bernardin had enough sense to give it to Opus Dei...

I really hope I get to see a lot of nice churches before I become a nun... God willing of course.

My gosh, I've been missing out on alot.

Another "not my church, but one I've been to"...

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, GA. An absolutely incredible place of worship. The entire interior looks like it's painted with frescoes, the gothic architecture is amazing, and the marble altar is gorgeous. They know how to make 'em down South.

The pics don't do it justice. You've got to see it for yourself.
