I help teach the Confirmation classes at my parish, and these kids are hungry for anything and everything Catholic!! It's amazing!! But the thing is you have to introduce the saints to them in an interesting way and I thought, who would be more interesting than Padre Pio??!!! So now that i know who i want to talk about, i need to know what to say! :D: Any ideas? I'll take stories about the other Saints as well. Thanx guys!!

I put Pier Giorgio Frassati up there too.
Technically a blessed, but still sweet.

Talk about his battles with demons....that should interest them. You could also tell em about St. Dominic Savio the teenage saint. He's always a big hit with that kind of crowd.

St. Joseph of Cupertino he could fly whenever he prayed.

You could also do St. Jean Vianney. I like to call him St. Giovanni Vianney. He'd spend most of the day in the confessional where people from miles around would confess their sins. He'd also wrestle with the devil while laughing because he knew that a fallen away Catholic would make a full conversion.

You could also talk about St. Maria Goretti, girls love her and boys admire her courage.

I can't remember the name, but there was a saint who dragged a cow across a frozen river.

You might try looking for a book called "115 fun facts about saints"

Oh, I heard a great story about Padre Pio. As you know he was very well know for the miraculous heallings that were associated with him. He used to get letters from all over the world asking for his prayers. His friary literally had it's basement filled with stacks and stacks of letters for him. Toward the end of his life he knew that he was dying. He thought that it would be prudent to dispose of the all the letters sent to him so that some of the mailed conffessions would not fall into anyone else's hands. So, onthe day it was to take place he went into the basement with a young priest and told him to burn them all. Then he reached into the mountain of mail and pulled out two letters and said, "keeps these. They will be important someday." The two letters that he pulled from the mountain of mail were from the same young priest each asking for prayers for a different parishoner of his. The young priest was named Karol and he was from rural Poland. You and I call him JP2.

I have heard it several times from different sources but I have not had the chance to verify this story. Nonetheless, I think that it is a cool story

<<<<<<< Fr. Pro is awesome. And he's kind of modern and there are pictures of his execution- there's an even better one than the one I have- it was just too big to use for my avatar. He's not a saint yet, though- he's a blessed but he's a martyr so...

here's a link to the pictures of his execution.
