zunshynn Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 (edited) Oh my goodness, I only just now was able to see the video of Sr. Mary Agnes! That was so beautiful! Thank you so much for letting us know about it. How wonderful to see the investiture of a phamily member! (Even if she was here before my time!) That was so inspiring... I'm so looking forward to my own! And I think it's a beautiful testimony of the beauty and radicality of orthodoxy and religious life amidst a world that just doesn't "get it". I had really wanted to go visit the Lockport Dominicans before my entrance... But this I hadn't realized family couldn't attend there! Is that just because the chapel right now isn't arranged for outsiders to see? Or is that how they've chosen it to be? Edited August 29, 2006 by zunshynn
zunshynn Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I don't know why this was never at the top after I posted.
brendan1104 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 The Sisters do have a public chapel- for Mass, Adoration, devotions etc. However the investiture ceremony for the Dominican Nuns is generally restricted to the community. That the investiture ceremony was on TV was very special- so it would attract (vocational) interest in the community.

You're not going to share your secret? By the way, how often are they able to have adoration? Do you know what their horarium is like? Edited August 30, 2006 by zunshynn
brendan1104 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Well excluding Mass and Office (which are adoration, too) I think it's 3 hours now... I used to, but not much anymore. Adoration and Mass are in the afternoon. They chant the full office in choir. Plus they have study/class periods, meals, recreation and a siesta.
