OLAM Dad Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Hey everybody, This thread is going to seem very similar to my first ever Phatmass post. So similar, in fact, that the description that I wrote for Sr. Lauren's entrance doesn't need editing at all to describe Sr. Katie's entrance. If you're interested in more detail or haven't seen that thread and those pictures CLICK HERE. I had corresponded a lot with Sr. Katie the past few months (via PM) and it was very neat getting to meet her the day before her entrance and then being able to be present at her entrance. She and her family are awesome, holy people. OK, I'll quit rambling, here are the pics. Enjoy. This is Sr. Katie getting a congratulatory hug from one of her little sisters before the ceremony began. I can't wait until Jennifer enters!!!

ForHimAlone Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I had the priviledge of being on a nun run last December with Sr. Katie. She's an incredible young woman, and I'm very happy for her!
cathoholic_anonymous Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006
The cloister is full, so for the time being...yes.
The cloister is full?! That sounds so wonderful. Monasteries with full cloisters... Is the cloister full because this is Mother Angelica's order, or are many monasteries like this these days?
Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Thank you for sharing the pictures, they are beautiful! I love the one with the two Sisters with their Holy Father Francis

Although the SMME are hurrying along towards busting at the seams, so I hear! Love and prayers, PP
Not only is the cloister full, but it is a relatively large cloister at that, 45 cells. pp is absolutely correct. It's not just Mother, though she is amazing. I think more than anything they are being blessed with vocations because: 1. They are orthodox. 2. In the spirit of St. Francis they focus on the beauty of religious life. The Shrine is beautiful, their habits are beautiful, their Masses are beautiful, their music is beautiful, and Northern Alabama is beautiful. Couple the beauty with the very intensly felt presence of Our Lord there and the place really does have a hard to resist draw to it. 3. The friars. They are served by wonderful and holy priests who ALWAYS give knock out homilies and are great confessors and I'm sure great SDs. 4. Mother Angelica and her sisters. In Sr. Lauren's case, it was the Shrine itself that drew her. That and the Franciscan spirituality. She started visiting orders when she was 13 and although she knew about the PCPAs and had visited EWTN, she didn't initially feel called to the order. It was a totally unplanned visit to the Shrine about 18 months ago that sealed her fate.
the_rev Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Sorry for my "ignorance" but what is an intern sister? Also, could you please distinguish for me which one is Sr. Katie and which one is Sr. Lauren in the above images. In the Lord, Ed
