please state why you think it's just, especially in regards to the just war theory.

if there would be any point to it (there was no piont with the last one, Hitler left the Catholic Church and hated the pope. the pope gave his apostolic blessing to numerous assassination attempts on hitler, attempted a long-distance exorcism of him, and saw no reason to further endanger the catholic population in germany and italy which were already being persecuted by publically announcing a fact that was already known... I know your game and Pius XII was a very holy man, a "righteous gentile" according to the Cheif Rabbi of Rome at the time)

anyway, one would have to decide upon the best and most effective strategy towards stopping this hitler-type figure and amass a movement against him. if it was necessary for it to come to war, and there was no strong force backing you up, you'd still have to attempt because with God all things are possible. but if it did not come down to it being absolutely necessary, throwing everything you had militarily at this hitler-type would probably be unwise and counterproductive as you would very easily be wiped out and there'd be no one left to stop him.

that's what that clause in the Catechism means, IMHO. that you should not wage a war that will do nothing but get the entire side of the just wiped out and leave the unjust completely unopposed.

I would think it necessary to stage a very covert war and a strong resistance movement; make assasination attempts on key figures and free various concentration camps enlisting the aid of those you free to help fight.

but in the abortion case: it seems still necessary to work in the existing movements which are peacefully attempting to illegalize it. a violent resistence movement would, however, be justified as long as it did not cause a worse impossibility that abortion would ever be illegalized.

Eutychus, please stay on topic. No need to attempt a thread jack.

I voted no, as, in regard to the Just War Theory, one most have a probable chance at success.

the real question should be, IF you were in a position to EXCOMMUNCATE a future Hitler, would you?

Absolutely, presuming he was a church-going "Catholic."
