I prefer a kind of Burkean monarchy where the Monarch's rights are given by the consent of the people and checked by a legislative body.

Theocracy did not work in Geneva. Quite the contrary, Calvinist Geneva on a regular basis had witch-hunts and the execution of those who opposed Calvin or Calvinism. (Re Michael Servantes).

okay, so it'd have to be pretty small scale for that to work.

but anyway, even on a larger scale I support a republic; not a democracy. the less federalization, the better of course a horse of course.

I think a Democratic Republic, like the USA is in practice one of the best forms of government possible. Of course, my "ideal state" would change a few things about the Constitution and so forth; for example, I would make it clear that authority to govern comes from God, not "the people," and try to make it difficult for people to try to silence Christians by citing "freedom of religion". But other than that, I think that the USA was founded fairly wisely.

Democratic Monarchy. I think Poland had a Monarchy in which the king was elected from the nobles. Kinda like the Pope being elected from among the cardinals.

Well one reason one might want to revert to something previous is if one believed that a previous time ran things better than in current times.

An offocially Catholic Monarchy where public heresy was punishable by capital punishment and non-Christians had to wear clothes to distinguish themselves from Christians and and had to hear sermons 8 times per year directed twards their conversion.
