N/A Gone Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I would like to vote, but besides "no" to Ms. Amy, I really dont know anything else because all the information is so polemic and not enough to make a proper opinion. Minnesota residents, what are your takes on some of the people out there?
Jaime Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 you know aside from a couple (albeit major) issues with Ms Klobuchar, I have a huge amount of respect for her and how she's run her campaign. I think she's been a class act and has run a picture perfect campaign. (and she's going to prosper from it) I'm rather disappointed that the RNC has done nothing to back up Mark Kennedy (who is genuinely a nice guy) in this campaign even though his voting record has been in lockstep with the President. Pawlenty will get my vote. That being said I think Mike Hatch has done a tremendous amount as Attorney General. My big problem is the fact the race between Michelle Bachmann and Patty Wetterling. Bachmann is a complete nutjob and Patty (who's done lots of good things) is not a viable candidate in my opinion. I'll probably have to write in someone for that race.
homeschoolmom Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 In spite of what the license plate placards encouraging me to VOTE YES! say, I'm voting no.

Jaime Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006
Because the signs say "Vote Yes."
What a rebel
homeschoolmom Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 that, and I think too much is apropriated to light rail and buses and not enough to roads.
Jaime Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006
that, and I think too much is apropriated to light rail and buses and not enough to roads.
I agree But the referendum is just for roads. No light rail or buses are included. The thing that bugs me is that the exact same proposal was supposed to be for license plate tabs and the state gas tax. Yet both of those have been deferred to projects other than roads. If either of those were done the way they were supposed to, this referendum wouldn't be necessary.

Veritas Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) + Pawlenty, Kennedy, Bachman -pro-life and pro-family. The non-negotiables. Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life has done the homework on candidates. Click on the "Voter's Guide" for specifics for state and district: http://www.mccl.org/ I'm bringing this into the booth with me. When in doubt, vote Republican. In our state at least, they're overwhelmingly pro-life and pro-family. And, if you should make a mistake, at the very least they won't raise your taxes to pay for abortions!!!!! homeschoolmom Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006
I agree But the referendum is just for roads. No light rail or buses are included.
That is not the way it reads. It appropriates 40% for mass transit. It doesn't say anything about what happens to the other 60% except that it's to be used for transportation. So, in actuality, all of it could go for light rail. "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to dedicate revenue from a tax on the sale of new and used motor vehicles over a five-year period, so that after June 30, 2011, all of the revenue is dedicated at least 40 percent for public transit assistance and not more than 60 percent for highway purposes?” This would be a constitutional amendment. CrossCuT Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Pawlenty Kennedy Bachman (But apparently I cant vote for her. She isnt on my ballot) And Im not voting yes. I was confused about it and I didnt think it was really a big deal (well, it still isnt a nig deal really) but I asked my dad what it was and he basically said it was an amendment to the constitution that would direct tax dollars specifically for our roads and transportation. And this percentage will ONLY go to roads and transportation. The only potential problem this will have is if we are ever in a crisis where we will need the extra money, we will not be able to take it out of the funds for our roads and transportation because the constitution will have specified that this money STAYS with the roads etc. Or something like that. Correct me if Im wrong.

CrossCuT Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Ok thanks! Yea, I dunno. It can be good and it can be bad, it depends on how you look at it.
Red Knight Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I'm not a Republican, however, I am voting a straight party ticket this year, unless I see anything to convince me otherwise. From the input on the vote yes, I'm thinking no.
