phatcatholic Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 pham, "faith and science" is done (thank God! that was the hardest one so far). our next topic will be: Morality and Ethics this would include such topics as: --abortion --birth control --contraception and sterilization --homosexuality --in vitro fertilization --cloning --euthenasia --captial punishment --natural law --catholic morality and ethics (in general) --rules on culpability --maybe moral and venial sin too --anything else u can think of that would fit under this topic any info u have u can post in this thread. thanks! pax christi, phatcatholic

cathgirl Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 We had a debate on euthanasia in my class. Everyone for it said stuff like "why would you want the family to have to watch the person suffer". Since i go to a public school I couldn't say anything like "Jesus suffered so much for you, why can't you suffer for Him" and have them understand (the debate was basically "church pple" and "non-church pple"). Also if they made it legal, then they could basically talk people into it who couldn't afford everything, even they didn't want to. People just don't see the beauty of life anymore.

phatcatholic Posted January 19, 2004 Author Posted January 19, 2004 frozen, well, this thread is where u contribute to the "morality and ethics" entry. so what u would do is either post a link to an article that has to do w/ morality and ethics (see the subheadings in the entry that i have so far) or you can write ur own little apologetic (just one or two paragraphs). so, check out the "morality and ethics" entry, see what i have so far, and then see if u have anything u would like to add. if u want to contribute something to one of the other entries, u can find the old thread for it and post it there, or just make a new thread (hehe, i've pretty much given up on the idea of making this an organized system ). if that is still too confusing, then just send me ur contribution in a message. you in particular may have alot to say about abortion, so i would welcome ur feelings on the subjct (to add to the morality and ethics entry). thanks for ur interest. if u have any question, let me know. pax christi, phatcatholic
phatcatholic Posted January 19, 2004 Author Posted January 19, 2004 what's next? :D well, i have some more work to do on the "audio downloads" and i may see if i can find a couple more articles to add to the sections that don't quite have as much. but, i should be able to finish that today. then, i can finally start on the entries i've been looking forward to the most..... THE SACRAMENTS! WOO HOO! :D i haven't decided yet if i'm gonna make a separate entry for each sacrament, or put all seven into one entry. it will probably depend on how much info i am able to find for each one. anyway, that's the plan for now. i'll keep ya posted. ur my girl V! , phatcatholic

phatcatholic Posted January 19, 2004 Author Posted January 19, 2004 I can find the Audio Downloads for different sacraments if you want, or something... :D seriously!?!? that would be HUGE! its kinda tricky, but i'll give u directions. if it sounds like too much, that's cool (i promise :D ) i get the audio from two places: --EWTN Audio Library --Catholic Pages Truth Directory at the ewtn page, search in the lower field (ewtn programs). just type in each sacrament and see what comes up. when u get ur results, right-click on the "download" link, and go to "copy shortcut". then, when u want to make the link in ur post, u click on the "http://" button and then paste ur link (ctrl-v). then hit enter. for the title, here's the format i use: program host on program name. ex: Phat Catholic on How to Make an Audio Link then, italicize the program name and ur done. you've just made ONE link. (hehe, now u know what i have to go through!). at Catholic Pages, just click on "sacraments" and then go to each one. when u scroll down, there will be a Multimedia section for each one. there's where u get the audio from that site. when u see an audio file: --right click.....copy shortcut --http:// button --ctr-v --enter --program host on program name --enter --italicize program name again, if this is too tedious or ur not sure what to do, that is TOTALLY OK. i'm just thankful that you offered. if don't think u'll be able to, i understand b/c i doubt u knew what u were getting urself into! :D pax christi, phatcatholic

Let me try again... trust me.........i know how you feel..........patience, my sister............patience first off, ALWAYS make sure that you select everything you've just typed and COPY IT (ctrl-c) before you try to post it or send it. invariably, it won't send so if u don't copy it to the clipboard u'll have to start all over. you can go ahead and post them here, if u like. i'll try not to complicate things any further for you. (not that ur retarded or anything, this can just get pretty tedious ). also, if three in a row have the same title (program name), that's ok, b/c they have different program hosts, so u can still tell that they are different. this may be harder for u then it is for me b/c after a while, u can't edit ur posts any longer. since i'm the moderator, i can edit a post as many times as i want, so i just keep adding to one post, instead of having to make a new post anytime i want to change something or add something. just give it a shot and try ur best. if u get tired of doing it, just let me know. u have youthful enthusiasm, and that is just way too adorable! pax christi, phatcatholic
