Emile James Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 (edited) Monastic Communities of Jerusalem/French/Italian/English/Polish established in Montreal, Canada,Paris, in Florence-Rome, in Strasbourg, in Brussels, in Magdala, in Sologne, in the greatest sacred places like Vezelay and the Sanctuary of Mont-Saint-Micheal,France, and soon Poland. In a response to the call of today's Church and to the expectations of this world and of the urban environment, the particular vocation of the brothers and sisters of Jerusalem is to live in the heart of the cities, in the heart of God. By common prayer and brotherly love, they want to give witness to the Lord, who is absolute, the only source of salvation and the hope of all life. They want to be conformed to Jesus' prayer in the Gospel, and to the example of the first Christian communities of Jerusalem, without leaving the world, but keeping themselves from the spirit of the world. The particular characteristic of the monks,Priests and nuns of Jerusalem is to embrace modern urban reality. Not a mixed Community, the Brothers and Sisters are assembled in unity only for Liturgies. In the classic cities, they give witness to God, the only Absolute, and they announce the Gospel of Christ through the testimony of a life given essentially to contemplation (especially in public silent eucharistic adoration, shared silent prayer, and lection divina in the cell) and to fraternal charity. Emile James Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 (edited) Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles, a traditional Catholic community of nuns, can be best described as a monastic community of women. It is our ideal to imitate Our Lady's retirement from the world in quiet seclusion, as well as her apostolic charity. March 2006 we moved from our mother diocese in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to that of Kansas City-St. Joseph in Missouri. With the blessing of our former bishop to transfer, we accepted the welcoming invitation of Most Rev. Robert W. Finn D.D.. Our new bishop has offered firm support and protection of our charism and liturgy, and has approved and encouraged our canonical advancement by erecting our Priory as an official novitiate in keeping with Church's canons. happynun Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Thanks, philosobrat for remembering the Salesians as loyal to the Holy Father. St. John Bosco wanted this as part of our charism. It's a hallmark of the Salesian Family, accompanied by a deep devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to Mary, Help of Christians.
