in addition to their support of the pro-death movement, what is the meaning of the song "Show me how to live." Is it not a slap on the face?
And with the early dawn
Moving right along
I couldn't buy an eyeful of sleep
And in the aching night under satellites
I was not received
Built with stolen parts
A telephone in my heart
Someone get me a priest
To put my mind to bed
This ringing in my head
Is this a cure or is this a disease

(chorus)
Nail in my hand
From my creator
You gave me life
Now show me how to live

And in the after birth
On the quiet earth
Let the stains remind you
You thought you made a man
You better think again
Before my role defines you

(chorus)
Nail in my hand
From my creator
You gave me life
Now show me how to live

And in your waiting hands
I will land
And roll out of my skin
And in your final hours I will stand
Ready to begin
What is the pro-death movement?

Chris Cornell has an interesting story, he was raised catholic, but parents got divorced and he suffered horrible depression. I dont know much beyond that. I read somewhere that the song above was about Christ in the garden the night before his death. I dunno

I had a friend make a report citing audioslave as the devil, or writing from the devil's position in a sort-of regretful tone. It was sarcastic, but interesting.

I just love the voice, so easy to sing with

oh, so in context you thought Show me how to live is a smack in our face?

It is a great song, the idea of "show me how to live" is a patristic christological concept

no I was just asking what others thought of it. I cant tell while actually listening to the song whether he is being faceticous or not.

Audioslave is probably the most family friendly HARD rock mainstream band out there....considering rage's roots, they are extremely tame! Lay off the hatin brother. Show me a song of theirs that is blatantly pro choice!

i said it too. We're not hatin'. cuz it has nothing to do with the music. It has to do with who they're giving their money to. If I'm not mistaken, one organization they have given to is the Axis of Justice.

I would still like to hear what everyone thinks of this song. I'm not saying one way or the other right now, because I dont know what he is intending by some of these words (Nail in my hand/ from my creator/ you gave me life/ now show me how to live) (is this a cure or is it a disease.) Revprdeji mentioned that 'show me how to live' is a 'patristic christological concept,' but how does this tie into "nail in my hand from my creator"?

The symbolizism is christian. Often times people carry nails that remind them of Xp.

I dont know what his intentions are with the song, but for me it makes sense. "Christ, you died for me. I see that. now show me how I can live" makes sense?

"you gave me life, now show me how to live"

Chris Cornell was raised christian, parents got divorced and he suffered horrible depression. It is understandable that his pictures are religious but strange
