Understanding Of The Confessor

EcceNovaFacioOmni

I went to confession and confessed thoughts that I had entertained in the past. I don't remember word for word what I said or what the priest said to me about it, but remembering generally what he was saying, I now have doubt as to whether he understood me or not. I intended to confess that I entertained these thoughts, but his stress on when a tempting thought becomes a sin makes me wonder if he did not understand that I had actually entertained such thoughts. I wonder if he thought I was merely tempted by such thoughts. What should I do? Thank you.

Thy Geekdom Come

Don't be scrupulous. You are forgiven of your sins. A lack of understanding on the part of the priest does not constitute a lack of understanding on the part of Christ. :) I once told a priest that I was rude to my family and he told me to be more charitable with my wife and kids. He was hard of hearing, so I didn't bother to clarify because it would have held up the line and really wasn't necessary.

God bless,

Raphael
