cathgirl Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn I just got that book, but haven't read it yet!! I think it would be fun.
Kilroy the Ninja Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 Just be sure to post (in at least a couple different places) exactly when we're starting the first book... Sounds like fun!
FaustinaVianney Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 This is a GREAT idea!! I think the Imitation of Christ is a good book. It has been in every Catholic bookstore that I've ever been in... St Therese quoted it quite a bit... :)
IcePrincessKRS Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 so that explains why we haven't convinced you to become Catholic yet... you couldn't read our posts!!! ^_^ :: Al, you crack me up! So when are we starting? I need to know if I have to order a book or not. :P
the_rev Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 :: Al, you crack me up! So when are we starting? I need to know if I have to order a book or not. Where you live do they have a public library? You can hold books, through the interlibrary loan! What book are we doing first?
stargirl3:16 Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 there's no such thing as a former priest... a priest is a priest forever. i mean that this guy was a priest, but he left for health reasons and started writing books.
dUSt Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 Well, since this is Fr Pontifex's idea, I'll let him decide the first book we'll read. As soon as he decides, I'll give everyone about a week to go get the book, and then we'll get started, discussing one chapter per week. So--as soon as Fr Pontifex get's in here and replies, the sooner we'll get started.
IcePrincessKRS Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Where you live do they have a public library? You can hold books, through the interlibrary loan! What book are we doing first? Yes, we do. I know ALL about interlibrary loans! And I DO mean ALL. I used to work for the library at the college I went to, and for 4 years doing all the interlibrary loans was my job! I loved it. :)
Aloysius Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 i mean that this guy was a priest, but he left for health reasons and started writing books. OK, but he's still a priest if he wanted to he could still celebrate mass
Jake Huether Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Father, May I suggest begining with St. Teresa of Avila's "Interior Castle". I'm one "Mansion" away from finishing it. It is a MUST for Christians (Catholic or otherwise).
Im4Him Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 What an amesome idea! This is going to be fun.
RUN-D.R.E. Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Cool! I just put a blurb in my bullitin to announce a book club I am starting for my parish... I decided to do a book a month and have everyone bring a drink or dish to share monthly to discuss the book on the 3rd friday of every month.. I was thinking of starting with "Orthodoxy" by G.K. Chesterton, followed by "Pierced by a Sword" by Mcfarlane (I havn't read it yet) and then switching to either Lamb's Supper or A Father who Keeps His Promises or any other Hahn book for the third month. Look forward to this book club too! yours in Christ, RUN-D.R.E.
Kilroy the Ninja Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Orthodoxy would be nice... I've got that one here and just haven't had a chance to pick it up yet... So, when is all of this to commence?

God Conquers Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 wow... wicked idea. Are we sticking strictly to apologetics and spiritual reading? I thionk it would be amesome to read some Catholic literature (fiction) as well.
dUSt Posted January 28, 2004 Author Posted January 28, 2004 Okay, since Fr Pontifex seems to be a little busy, I've decided on the book. See other thread.
