I don't swear or use bad language because I don't think it's holy. If you wouldn't use the words as you're kneeling in front of the tabernacle, why use them in your every day life? Are we not called to be holy at all times? God bless.

I really feel that the power of God’s Gift of spoken speech is very much taken for granted today. Only a word can make or break a job, a friendship, or a marriage. God entrusted us with a powerful thing called speech… let us use our tongues wisely. :D

It can be an instrument of life or destruction. It is capable of lifting up or casting down. Let us pray that we can use our tongues for that which is good.

It not only offends me, but would offend her as well. My question still remains... Who, out of the ones condoning bad language, would swear while kneeling in front of the tabernacle?

Since we, as Christians, are the Temple of the Holy Ghost, and we are bought with a price(Christ's blood), and we have the Holy Spirit indwelling us, should we cuss? If God were physically in front of you, would you use profanity in His Holy presence? If not, why do it when He is Spiritually indwelling you?

It SHOULD NOT BE the same mouth that speaks profanity........ ~S.

CatholicAndFanatical Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 Do you kiss your mamma wit dat mouth?? I very rarely cuss unless im realy PO'd. I honestly feel..eechk..when I do it alot. My favorite words...GOOD GRAVY!! I got that from Dilbert, yea were both geeks but so what, its better than saying other stuff and offending God. And I would venture to say it offends God when we cuss, especially if it offends other people around us.

A related funny story: My priest sometimes asks the kids at church what they'll be giving up for Lent. Some say chocolate, or TV, and a few kids say, "Father, I'm giving up cussing." To which he replies, "I wouldn't want to hear you on Easter morning!" PS--I used to give up cussing for Lent when I was a kid...
