Then I freaked out when he went up to talk because he was dressed all normal and had fit right in with the teens hanging around the place. So the second time was when I really met him, after his talk. And I asked him permission to steal his stuff for a chastity talk I was giving for a retreat. And he said, yes. : He is such a great guy! It's relevant in scripture and presents a message of purity all too easily forgotten in modern society. Though yeah, the Thursday bit threw me too; thanks for pointing out it's on Thursdays now! Guest FourArrows Posted June 9, 2007 Share Posted June 9, 2007 I am new but probably won't be here much (since I am protestant ) BUt I just wanted to get a login name so I could post and say THANK YOU to the OP for posting that "The Pure Life" will be on DVD at the end of its tv run. As aparent of teens, this show has been a WONDERFUL conversation starter. I have been exceedingly careful over the last 17+ years to cultivate open and honest dialog with my kids since I knew that the teen years would be next to impossible without that early establishment. I am a pastor's daughter (he is recently deceased ) and when I was 17 I fell into rebellion against my parents and God, at which point I chose to engage in the sin of premarital sex. When I got pg at 17 my first thought was not abortion, but it did find its way into my mind and I even set up an appointment. I knew it was wrong but I was embarrassed for my dad and myself. PRAISE GOD he saved me and my son from that path! I am still brought to tears by his mercy! ANYWAY, I never wanted my kids to feel like we couldn't talk and I certainly wanted them to understand that sex and sexuality are not simply physical. But that sex/sexuality is spiritual, emotional, thoughtful and willfull. My teens are both virgins and vocally proud of it. They also do a very fine job of defending Truth on other levels (abortion, creation, etc). But parents can always use more resources. When I first saw "The Pure Life" I was a little wary as there are some differences in RC and P beliefs , but I was very pleased with what saw/heard and I have DVR'ed the last 5 episodes (I missed the first ones). The teens love to watch with me and we have very lengthy discussions. It often takes us well over an hour to watch a recorded episode since we get into discussion brought up by the context of the message. I am especially impressed at the very logical way the Truth is presented. There is simply no room for argument in the way the show's topics are dealt with. Okay, so I think this forum is mostly for teens and young adults. My apologies if having a 35 year old here is a bad thing I just HAD to post and say THANKS for letting me know that TPL will be on video since we want to see the episodes we missed ~FourArrows "Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. I truly hope you keep posting on Phatmass because we have MANY great fruitful conversations with people of all faiths, young and wise!!!!! Not everyone is a young'n and I pray you will be a regular on here, post questions, discuss, because the topics the Pure Life deals with is something all Christians can agree on: saving martial relations for the married and the beautiful fruits it can bring and what you can do now (chastity is a "now" thing) if you are not a virgin!!!! The message is beautiful. The Pure Life is helping teens (and others) hear the message. Prayers for you, your family and your growing teens!
