Mp who is the rightful owner of this land, certianly not any of the Tribes that were here when Europeans arrived, most if not all of them owned there land by right of Conquest, so what is the differance between the two.

Don, you’re thinking in a way that was foreign to the native people of this land at that time. The Native Americans did not think of land ownership the way that the Europeans did. Most if not all had no concept of land ownership. Yes they did try and protect what piece of land they lived on, but they did so not thinking they owned it, but mainly for their survival. Their perception was that the Great Creator provided the land they lived on for them, and how could something he created for them be bought, sold or claimed. I personally would like to think that those that were here first have first claim to it. I know that belief will not fly with most however. In true retrospect, the Native Americans simply waited too long to stake a claim for their land. Problem is that it was just not in their mentality to do so when the first Europeans arrived.

Peace,

Marcus

Sorry Hyper, but that certainly seem erroneous.

Authority does not have to come from the Catholic Chruch. The Catecism tells us the nature and source of Authority comes from God. Authority comes from Natural Law and is granted by God. So even a politician who believes in the seperation of Chruch and state has a responsiblity to God for the Authority he wields.

1897 "Human society can be neither well-ordered nor prosperous unless it has some people invested with legitimate authority to preserve its institutions and to devote themselves as far as is necessary to work and care for the good of all."15

By "authority" one means the quality by virtue of which persons or institutions make laws and give orders to men and expect obedience from them.

1898 Every human community needs an authority to govern it.16 The foundation of such authority lies in human nature. It is necessary for the unity of the state. Its role is to ensure as far as possible the common good of the society.

1899 The authority required by the moral order derives from God: "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment."17

1900 The duty of obedience requires all to give due honor to authority and to treat those who are charged to exercise it with respect, and, insofar as it is deserved, with gratitude and good-will.

Pope St. Clement of Rome provides the Church's most ancient prayer for political authorities:18 "Grant to them, Lord, health, peace, concord, and stability, so that they may exercise without offense the sovereignty that you have given them. Master, heavenly King of the ages, you give glory, honor, and power over the things of earth to the sons of men. Direct, Lord, their counsel, following what is pleasing and acceptable in your sight, so that by exercising with devotion and in peace and gentleness the power that you have given to them, they may find favor with you."19

1901 If authority belongs to the order established by God, "the choice of the political regime and the appointment of rulers are left to the free decision of the citizens."20

Kings were de-throned. Emperors knelt in the snow. The Catholic Church, Christ's Bride has been left with all authority. She is the only legitimate government.

I guess that's from the New New Testament. The writings that the Catholic Church forgot to reference when it wrote the Catechism (a sure norm for teaching the Faith.).

JasJis there is no reason to be rude it simply shows you ignorance of the Truth, Hyper was absolutely correct it comes from the writings of the Catholic Church, One is not oblieged to obey a soverigne who it not in communion with the Catholic Church, The Catachism is not infallable teaching, and is frankly incompleteWhat hyper is talking about is well within the Tradition of the Church.... as I said before read some Councils, and Papal Bulls.

Mp-- No I am not, you are thinking in the way that modern Propoganda about the American Indians tells you to---

Some of the Plains indians thought in the way you are speaking but not all and certianly the Huron, Iraquios, Aztecs, Incas, Talaxcalans, and the North wesrt Indians didn't. Some north eastern tribes had documents of Ownership and individuals baought and sold land.

The Aztecs and Talaxcalanshad a very, very complex economy and certianly believed that they OWNED THEIR LAND. In Texas the Apache certianly believed there land was Theisrs, until the Comanche moved in form the north and drove them into the Desert. THe Comanche apparantly believed that the entire world belonged to them and they could take what they wanted, They certainly believed the lands they lived on were theirs and they would happily kill you, rape your wifebefore and after burning her nose and ears off, and draging your baby behind there horse untill it died to prove it. ( there is a reason people so easily justified aking war on the Indians.
