Chiquitunga Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007
Okay, their new foundation is in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. :j
Actually, I believe it's more commonly called just Derry, as it always was. That's how I remember it when I was over there.

Chiquitunga Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Here's a little blog post about the new foundation of the Contemplative Sisters of St. John in Derry, Northern Ireland. Congratulations to them! puellapaschalis Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Whether it's called Derry or Londonderry depends on which side of the fence you sit on.
He is Risen! Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Some of the Sisters of St. John came over for supper one night when I was on a visit to the CFR sisters in NYC. They were all native French speakers and were very bright and joyful. I wish they could have stayed and talked for longer, definately check them out.

I originally wrote Londonderry last year without thinking, which is what my friend who is close to the community in IL emailed it to me as. But then I realized it would be referred to by most Catholics (in Ireland), or maybe that's the wrong word to use, Republicans, as just Derry. On the Community of St. John's site their address is Derry. Here's something I just found ..
The Sisters of St John would like to invite you to three spiritual conferences given by Fr Gregoire of the Brothers of St John on the evenings of the 3rd to 5th August, followed by a Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine led by Fr Gregoire from the 6th to 8th August. Pilgrims are responsible for their own transport, meals and accommodation. A parent or guardian must accompany any child. For more information please contact the Sisters at 71353414. Maria Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Aren't there some of the Contemplative sisters around Chicago? I spoke to some at the Congress (the one we 'know' from Montreal introduced us), and then I spoke for some time Sunday morning with a postulant named Theresa.

Some pictures taken there on the occasion of an investiture ceremony a couple years ago, http://pjstar.mycapture.com/mycapture/fold...sp?event=190277 http://www.communityofstjohn.com/ Edited July 26, 2008 by Margaret Clare
