A Question On Fasting And Mass

at 7:06 in the mourning, I realize that mass starts in an hour at 8:00. I know we need to fast an hour before mass and recieving Christ. But my question is do we fast before the begining of mass, or an hour before we recieve Christ? A section from the Catecism would be great. Thank you.

Code of Canon Law : Can. 919 §1 Whoever is to receive the blessed Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from all food and drink, with the sole exception of water and medicine.
