it's not a sin if they are unaware of the sinful nature of rootin for them. (assuming objecively it'd be a sin) once they are aware and then disregard that, they are then fully culpable.

Seriously at least 75% of men in my country consider hockey as their religion over anything else. So its a big deal up here!

Well yeah, it's a sin. Because they play against My Penguins. To root for them would therefore be blasphemy.
However, I suppose that in my other context as a Columbus Blue Jackets fan I could root for them. But, seeing as how it is blasphemy for My Other Favorite Team, I don't think I could do it.
