My church is doing the same thing... It's a decent tool for preparing your congregation to know some history around the time so they can talk to their friends about the movie.

Or correct the story where it may have left the Truth. I think it is a good idea, tells people the story of Christ in a greater detail. LOL. Or they could be scared the The Passions of the Christ might turn into a Catholic Da Vinici Code. Lies based on truth proporting as truth.

dUSt Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I imagine that a lot of Churches will try to explain away the Catholic theology in the movie, because make no doubt about it, there is some strong Catholic theology presented in it. My guess is that they will explain it to their congregations in whatever way suits their beliefs the best.

Such as when the Blessed Virgin stomps on the serpent's head!

Yeah, I heard it was an accident. But he didn't want it replaced until the shot was over. It wasn't done on purpose, but once it was done, it was left out on purpose to make the shot more authentic.
