Archaeology cat Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008
I doubt its a hoax. http://yaledailynews.com/ http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,351608,00.html
Darn it - I was hoping it was. But then I just found it on the Telegraph, too.
prose Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008
So, what do we really have here? No proof of any real impregnation, no proof that the "drugs" taken could really induce miscarriage, and no medical tests to buttress any claims. In other words, we have a hoax. If not a hoax, we have a girl who has no idea what she is talking about and too many willing accomplices in the school and the media to just accept her claims as truth without any logic or science to put such claims to the test.
I tend to think this is true.
The Bus Station Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 My mom had a miscarriage with my little brother when she was 6 months along. I don't know how to express what I feel. I'm angered and disgusted and I want to cry. No human being should be this evil.

My mom miscarried 3 of my older siblings, and her mom also miscarried a couple of times. This is no joking matter, hoax or not.
CatherineM Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 She may have raided a dumpster. I remember a doctor years ago who was arrested for improperly disposing of the results of his abortions in a dumpster.
irishdancer Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008
Agreed. Abomination is the only word that comes to mind, and flashes of hellfire of Dante's inferno.
One of my closest friends just delivered a stillborn son. I have no words for this evil.
Malachi Crunch Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 It seems every week there is another event that tops all the others before it. This definately fits the bill this week - I pray nothing tops this one. I don't have words if this is really true. It seems sketchy, but we don't really know. Tears and prayers are not enough. This is beyond evil.
Galloglasses Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 It can't say anything good about my character when I am not brought to tears over this. I'm not a cyncial man, I despise cynicism, but I may be over desensitized. But God this is disgusting... Lord have Mercy.
Tufsoles Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 This is sad and disgusting. I'm repulsed by this event. Plus, illegal, unhealthy, and unethical.
The Bus Station Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Apparently she confessed, and it is a hoax: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/apr/08041701.html She should make a statement apologizing.

The Bus Station Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008
How is this art? What is the message?
Exactly... if the purpose of art is to inspire virtue, then this is not art. It is simply filth.
picchick Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I was being sarcastic I don't know about art inspiring virtue. I can see art in the strangest ways. I honestly think that the human body is a piece of art. It is beautiful. But sin is not beautiful and sin is not art. She says that she did not care what it did for her body. Did she not stop to think what it did to the baby's body? Did she not stop to think of all the wives and husbands who have trouble concieving? Did she not think about how much they long to see and hold a child of their own? Here she is knowingly and willing becoming pregnant only to knowingly and willing abort without one thought. Tomorrow I am going to care for babies and new moms. I am sickened by this story. I am angered by this story. I cannot believe that this is what we have to show to God after all these years. It has been a long night/day...I apologize if this post is illogical or incoherent.

Deb Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Hoax or not, the entire concept is just sick and evil. Pray for her. She is a very lost young woman.
picchick Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I didn't see that thread. lol....this is starting to get to be a very bad habit of mine.... I apologize. The concept is still gross.
BeenaBobba Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Very sad, even if it does turn out to be a hoax. You know, I've read that some pro-choicers have been weirded out by this.
Madame Vengier Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 It's a hoax. It was confirmed this evening. Yale issued a statement that the hoax was all a part of her "art expression" and standing by her rights to free speech and to free expression of her "art" in whatever form it takes. Outrageous. Here's the statement: http://www.yale.edu/opa/
New Haven, Conn. — April 17, 2008 Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art. Her art project includes visual representations, a press release and other narrative materials. She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages. The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body. She is an artist and has the right to express herself through performance art. Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.
I'd say Miss Shvarts qualified for "mental health concerns" quite a while ago. Really sad and pathetic.
jeffpugh Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Indeed. How could anyone lie about such an atrocity?
