dUSt Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Easy solution. If the student can recite the prayers of the rosary, allow them to wear it. If they can't, they shouldn't be wearing it in the first place. Then, if nothing else, it'll force gangsters to learn the rosary!

I asked him whether or not he prays on it and he said "Dude, I'm Baptist. This is just a necklace." If there wasn't a line, I would've schooled him. I guess I will have to do it tomorrow.
mommas_boy Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008
Wow. This gives a whole new meaning to what I used to do in the Novitiate at Ann Arbor. I was very fond of calling my fellow sisters, my "cholas!" ...little did we know!!!
Now I've got that song stuck in my head: "Lean Like a Cholo". "Elbows up, side to side"

lilac_angel Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Maybe that's why a gangsta rapper wanted to friend me on Myspace when I had my gigantic Rosary layout.
dominicansoul Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008
what does chola mean anyways?
A latina gang-girl... ...being that me and St. Dominic were the only Hispanics in that community, it was a riot, and my sisters got a kick outta me calling them that...
kujo Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 One of the ladies I work with calls me "Papi-chulo." What is that all about?

DiscerningSoul Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Its sad that such a wonderful symbol of faith gets turned into such non sense. I love my rosary, I was once a crossing guard in my town, in the very rough end where shootings and drugs were common, I had my rosary tucked inside my pant pocket, ah my sword of faith! More need to SAY the rosary rather just wear or carry it.
