Socrates
Me either. I really don't want to vote for another old man. There should be a real choice. But there isn't. I'm a bit discouraged as the primary approaches.
I find this "I don't want to vote for another old man" talk shallow and superficial. It always annoys me when people make age, sex, race, etc. at the center of their political emphasis. It reminds me of the griping over the age of the Pope (who incidentally is almost a decade older than McCain). I'm not much of a McCain fan myself, though he's preferable to the two Dems. All three are more-or-less big government liberals.

Come on...we can disagree with the guy, but to call him "sick and twisted" is a bit of an exaggeration. Based on that, we would have to refer to a large part of our country as "sick and twisted" because of their views on abortion, too. I know his are pretty far out there....but, again, I don't think "sick and twisted" is an appropriate criticism. Wrong? Immoral? Sad? Perhaps. But not "sick and twisted."
no way... Gravel's just an old grumpy white man... ha, j/k
Haha. I hate (don't hate, appreciate) that people won't vote for "old people." It seems like you would want someone with the experience and wisdom that an older person might have. But, then again, people look down on candidates who are "elitists" in favor of "regular folk." Is it just me, or do you want the smartest, most morally-grounded person in there, not necessarily the person who can clear brush or harvest a field? Governments (not the least of which being Communist and National Socialist regimes) historically have been responsible for far more deaths and atrocities than have private businesses. As you read this, a squad of storm troopers is set to bust into your room and confiscate all your Che t's, along with your Rage Against the Machine CDs and Michael Moore video library. I've tried to have a "serious" discussion with you before, which you ignored, so I guess we're stuck exchanging silly slogans and clever digs. And if you actually studied the history of fascist states, you'd know that fascist regimes kept a pretty tight leash on businesses, subjecting them totally to the power of the state. But again, most wannabe socialistas know next to nothing about fascism, using "fascist" simply as a catch-all derogative word to use against anything they don't like. It seems more accurate to say you're against plutocracy, though that is one of the dangers of democracy, or mob-rule, traditionally regarded as the lowest form of government and a step away from tyranny. (Let's not forget, Hitler was democratically elected.) It was particularly despised by the Father of our Constitution, James Madison, who wrote: "democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths." But, hey - Power to the People, man! Down with the Fascists!
Didymus
what was incorrect about what I said? I didnt claim that we are in a fascist state... I merely said that "when you get caught up mixing big business with big government, you end up with a fascist state" emphasis on "end up"... could one not find themself in a fascist state because of this?
