Why people use "myself" to sound formal is beyond me. It just sounds.... wrong.

"She lives in the same town as I" is correct. But "She and I live in the same town" is better.

For clarification:
"Myself" is either a reflexive pronoun (I hurt myself) or
and intensive pronoun (I did it myself). It is not used when you don't know if you should use "I" or "me."
