dUSt Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Did anybody watch Mel Gibson on the Tonight Show last night? James Caviezel (devout Catholic actor who played Jesus) is going to be on tonight. I'll be watching. You should too.
Lil Red Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 i watched it last night. it was pretty amesome! i was really surprised when Jay said he went and saw it (and described a couple of scenes, so you could tell he wasn't just saying that). I thought it was really cool too, how at the end of the interview, Jay shook Mel's hand and said, "Thanks for having the courage of your convictions."
rachael Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 somebody told me about Caviezel being on today. i am really looking forward to watching it. i wish i could have known about Mel Gibson being on.
Colleen Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 yeah, Jim's gonna be on Leno tonight. Leno couldn't stop laughing last night at the thought of interviewing the Average Joe and Jesus in the same night. I thought that interview was amesome last night. Jay asked Mel if he knew any of the dead languages and Mel was like, "I know a smattering of Latin, you know, in vino veritas" or something like that. I'm not sure that that quite makes sense in latin, but anyway, it was cool. i wish i could find the transcript of it. it's really worth seeing.
Lil Red Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 "in wine there is truth" that is what "in vino veritas" means.
Colleen Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 "in wine there is truth" that is what "in vino veritas" means. good i was right!
L5 Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 It was an amesome show. I thought the opening monologue was hilarious (humour in good taste) and the crowd went wild in support of the film. Good stuff!
Colleen Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 It was an amesome show. I thought the opening monologue was hilarious (humour in good taste) and the crowd went wild in support of the film. Good stuff! yeah, everything leno said about the movie was really positive. i was wondering if it was just cuz mel was there. but then at the end when he said, "Thanks for having the courage to stand up for your convictions," i changed my mind. i think he was really sincere!
Lil Red Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 colleen, i really think he was sincere too. i'm very proud of mel!
littleflower+JMJ Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 isn't jay leno catholic? or his wife is?

jmjtina Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 In his opening monologue, Leno joked that the movie, which cost Gibson $30 million to make, was doing so well that "there's now talk of turning it into a book." :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
littleflower+JMJ Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: LOL now THATS a good idea!

Colleen Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 Jim was amesome!!!! Didja see that he was wearing a Miraculous Medal? I think that's what it was! yeah i did! it was a big gold four-way medal, which includes the miraculous medal! that was a great show, and leno was actually really funny last night!
Lil Red Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 i just think he did a wonderful job!!! I wish Leno had spent more time with Jim like he did with Mel. Oh well.
L5 Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 Leno: How do you prepare for playing the role of Jesus? Caviezel: Well, when I heard I got the part, I went home and started practising walking on my pool twice a day.
