Learn Spanish Says Obama

But to make it clear, I do have a problem with spanish speaking immigrants expecting us to speak their language. We are Americans, we speak English. If I went to China, I would want to learn Chinese, I wouldn't expect them to speak English, although some may be fluent in English there, it isn't the "official" language.

I remember a couple of years back, I think it was fox news, someone sang the national anthem in Spanish. What the heck? It's an American anthem. When we sing the French National Anthem, it's in French, not English.

Obama is not looking at the greater picture.

In Chicago, there are neighborhoods that are full Polish, full Italian, full Hispanic, etc. He is isolating one immigration population and in a way, favoring them. Yes, it is hard for them to make a way in this country without being able to speak the language. But it is that way for every other immigrant as well. In fact, I worked with a CNA who came from Poland. She did not speak the language at all when she moved here. She felt so lost. What did she do? She learned English. Obama needs to look at bigger pictures rather than isolating populations jus because they are the greater part of the immigrants.

However, when I have kids they will learn a second language from early on. I think it is better intellectually in the long run. :) I have quite a few years though so maybe I should get crackin' on something.
I think that's a valid point. Not that important tho.
I think people in Europe (and wherever) choose to learn English for their own benefit, not because we demand it.
We do not have that power over them.

As far as world opinion of the United States.......it's a problem we have for many reasons including jealousy of and lies about the U.S. I hope our nation will give the world reason to admire us more in a genuine way. We can repent of our sins and stuff. But if we make English the national language, that would not be a sin in any way.
If anybody disagrees, they would be hard up for a good reason to do so. If their country declared their national language, we would not be upset. Americans don't get upset over that kind of thing, and that is just to show that it wouldn't be hypocritical.

Anywho

McCain began running ads over the 4th of July weekend... in Spanish. And he joined Obama over this past weekend "hispandering" to those thugs in La Raza.

This is ridiculous. The immigrants will eventually assume that they don't have to try too hard to learn English if we're all studying Spanish. And what of the illegal immigrants? We're just going to be making it easier for them.

Why do you consider them thugs? I might research them, but I'm not the only person who is gonna do a double-take on that comment.

Because the are like the CAIR of the illegals. They don't support immigration so much as they support unrestricted illegal immigration. They also seek to constantly handicap law enforcement efforts at our border.

Well, La Raza will have a friend in either McCain or Obama. Both candidates want to send military and law enforcement everywhere but the boarder.

And if you wanna research then, Discover the Networks might be a good place to head for linked info and documentation on them and other groups that they work along side.

Soy un miembro del Concilio en Relaciones islámicas norteamericanas. ¿Soy yo un maleante?

Not really, just proving a point.

Exactamente. Obama dice solamente lo que EL piensa que los hispanos quieren oír. Siendo hispano me molesta que Obama cree que "La Raza" y organizaciones similares me representan.

Translation: I concur.

But basically saying in Spanish that I'm a member of CAIR, am I a thug? Even though I'm not either.

The Malkin article on La Raza is excellent. I really hope people will read it and share it with others. This is a dangerous organization that does NOT like America. You can't judge them by their website. Their site is friendly and innocuous. Their actions and the words of their members are NOT.

It is true what you said: It's not about immigration. It's about unrestricted ILLEGAL immigration. These are people who LITERALLY believe that there should be NO laws against anyone coming here who wants to come here. And that we Americans should have readily available resources to provide for these people. Remember Juan Hernandez was plainly asked about the high cost of illegal aliens to the American taxpayer and his response was "Yes, but good things cost." These people are wicked.
