CatherineM
What's with all the weird spammers all of a sudden? First they were trying to sell us Viagra, and the last one linked to a vivid porno site. I was so shocked, I just about dropped my lap top trying to close the tab as quickly as possible. I'm going to run all my disc cleaners and filters to clean my computer. Those sites can have all sorts of nasty stuff, not counting the pictures. I'm clueless as to why anyone would think that someone on a site like this would got to their website and buy something, so of course that makes me think it's loaded with trojans. Too bad there isn't a Spybot for my eyes. I was so upset my blood pressure spiked, and I can hear my pulse in my ears. I'm going to go say a rosary to calm down. I'm supposed to be doing a paper on "Son of Man" for Christology. That will have to wait.

Selah
Perhaps you should make Phatmass more secure...on CTF, your first few posts don't show up until the mods know for sure you aren't some spammer or flammer. It would be very helpful. AND it would keep the spammers away. Edited October 3, 2008 by Selah

In the meantime, you can disable pictures (and smiles, too, unfortunately) by going to "My account." Once there, click on "Board settings" (under "options"). You will find the question "Do you wish to view images in posts, such as smilies and posted images?" Change the answer to "no" and save. (You can also change the number of posts per page while you are at it ) This will disable pornographic pictures. You can also avoid opening threads of unknown members. If you stumble on spam, hit report. It also does not hurt to PM a mod if you see one on. Too many reports are better than none. Also, if you suspect a thread is spam but don't want to open it, feel free to PM a mod or two. If you do this, please be specific (which phorum, etc). If you notice a new member who has a suspicious screen name (who has not posted) feel free to let us know that, too. We really do appreciate your help. Sadly the spam goes in waves. It's been pretty quiet for awhile... <sigh>

CatherineM
The only reason I clicked on it, was that I wanted to know what I was reporting. I also figured better for me a middle aged, married woman, to stick my toe in than one of the kids. I was just surprised at how much worse it was than I suspected. I know there isn't any way to really completely keep this stuff off, and I wasn't getting on to the mods at all, I was just wondering if it was the weather or something that was bringing all the creeps out of the woodwork.
