Lounge Daddy Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 The new visitor's center at the capitol deliberately strikes out In God We Trust. A few comments and observations were made by Sen DeMint on The Glenn Beck Program this morning (full transcript of the discussion available):
SENATOR DeMINT: There's a beautiful display of the speaker's chair in the House -- a replica of the House of Representatives there in the visitors center with the speaker's chair and the flags on both sides and it looks very good but it was so obvious that in the House above the speaker's chair, you know, carved in marble is "In God we trust," and here was this beautiful replica done in a lot of detail that they would bring the kids in and all the tour groups but it had everything except "In God We Trust" on it. And even the photos of the actual speaker's chair were cropped where "In God We Trust" didn't show. And you think maybe they just missed it or something, but they didn't. It was intentional.
Also, some public comments were made by DeMint and reported on The Hill in a full article.
Winchester Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Just put up a sign next to it saying That Stalin, Lenin and Mao Tse Tung were atheists. Religion has no corner on the hard heart market.
Arpy Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 As another Washingtonian, I am definitely displeased with the direction this state is headed. First I-1000 was passed and Gregoire elected, now this. But if we're allowed to attack others' belief systems in this way, might I suggest the following?
Atheism is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.
How truly and wretched it must be to live life as an atheist. May they some day find in God what they have lost in life.

You are missing my point. If atheists want to run around and tell people they are wrong fine. If they want to write articles, fine. If they want to carry signs down the street, fine. But I don't believe it is right to directly post a sign in a government place that DIRECTLY insults all religions. It is just wrong.
agreed and agreed

I am no more immoral than any of you. Nothing in my lifestyle has changed since I stopped believing, other than not going to church anymore. I find your assumption that all atheists are monsters really disturbing.

Yes we are all sinners but those with faith have the tools for salvation and to be seen spotless in Gods eyes. Atheist who defiantely insult and reject God are indeed monsters. Read revelation the antichrist is described as a monster literally. Anyone who rejects Christ came in the flesh is a antichrist. So yes atheists are monsters and antichrist. However, I don’t see him saying that all atheists do so, though perhaps "a" might have been a better choice than "the." Hitler was a monster. Maybe so with Stalin and Mao, and perhaps some others. But extending that description to all atheists? I don’t think so. And Jesus died for all, so I’m not quite sure how fidei defensor is excluded from the possibility of having his sins forgiven. Yes, he don’t rep Pope, but the chance of repentance is still there. Also, is calling nonbelievers antichrists really a good way to go about spreading God’s love? Many of them do believe that religious people are all a bunch of intolerant, stupid bigots, and reinforcing their prejudices can’t be a good thing.

And im talking about atheist who are defiant and insult God to an extreme measure. I never once said fidei defensor is excluded from the possiblity of having his sins forgiven. What are you talking about ??? lol And yes calling unbelivers who are very outspoken and defiant against God antichrist is a very good way of going about spreading Gods love. The bible gives me ample reason to do so. They are denying Christ came in the flesh and therefore being given the name antichrist in the bible. If no one tells them they are an antichrist how are they going to convert to becoming a christian ? Edited December 5, 2008 by Guest
Arpy Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Somehow, I don't think telling people they're antichrists is a great way to evangelize. Try preaching the Gospel through your actions, and using words when necessary.

The people putting up this satanic display in public goverment places besides the nativity scene. They are antichrist. You can call them whatever you want. I will call them antichrist because they are doing satans work and they are proud of it. Edited December 5, 2008 by Guest
Arpy Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Actually, I think people who are conscious and proud of doing Satan's work are called Satanists. And what do you mean by croutons? Is that a replacement swear word?

Guest Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 ha thats funny it shows how stupid i am, i tried to type the word and tell you what it is. and again, im talking about people who dont know if they believe in God. im talking about people who are defiant and say there is no God and push it on other people and attack God.

Arpy Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 So if I type croutons, it comes out as croutons? Faskinatin’. Well, I do agree that militant atheists are a problem, I just think you’re being too antagonistic in your approach. Atheists may not have been commanded to love their enemies, but we were.

Arpy Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I shall henceforth include "croutons" on my list of alternative swears.
