Why should we listen to popular culture? Is pornography, prostitution, and homosexual unions ok? No. They are not. They are morally evil. The go against human nature. As does treating women as objects rather than a person created by God, in His likeness and image. This is why we all need to strive to be better Christians, to change the status quo that we have in our society. Things have to change. Edited December 7, 2008 by IrishSalesian
Maximilianus Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Sadly too many people let our popular culture dictate their lives. That's why it's up to us to hold the banner of dignity and respect in a world that is becoming increasingly indifferent and hostile to morality .

I don't know you very IrishSalesian, but being male, I'm guessing there have been times in your life when you saw a really attractive woman and couldn't help but look, and for a brief few seconds (or minutes) your conscience flew out the window, correct? Lust is a very natural and necessary ingredient for procreation.

You are correct in saying that those thoughts pop into our minds. Just like a dream, which we have no control over. But when we purposefully stir up a lustful fantasy or encourage one of those sudden thoughts (the ones we never intended to be there in the first place), then we are in error.
IrishSalesian Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008
Nah. Lust isn't wrong. It's human nature. Lust is a very natural and necessary ingredient for procreation.
I do admit, that in the past I have lusted. But, it is wrong. And I did go to confession. But lust is not necessary to procreate. That is where love comes in to play. For one to procreate, is to love. Think about it. For one to wish to bring a child into this world, they would want to be intimate with someone that they were head over heels in love with to bring a child into this world. No one would wish to bring a child into this world with someone they had no emotional connection to. A child is a gift from God, and one should realize this. Lust leads you to hell, love leads you to salvation. Because when we let our consciences say ok to lust, we are letting Satan reign over God in our minds. We are justifying our shortcomings, so that we do not have to feel culpable in someway. Believe me when I say, it is so great to love. Love is unselfish; whereas, lust is extremely selfish. As a celibate religious, love is the way to go. It makes one much more free in their dealings with members of the opposite sex, and it allows you to interact with them without thinking about sex all the time. Love is the way to perfection. Lust is the road to damnation.
