Anybody Want To Give Me A Hand?

While I still don't think I am called to a contemplative life, I do find this charism to be very compelling. I recently read a story about a gifted basketball player, Shelly Pennefather, who left a promising pro career to become a Poor Clare. She joined a monastery in Alexandria, VA. I searched for a website but didn't find one. Does anyone know if this monastery has a website and I am just not finding it? I have to go to DC on business in a few weeks and will be staying a short drive from Alexandria - I would love to find out when mass is and stop by.

I read a story on her and it is very beautiful; I found a link for the monastery but it is broken. I won't suppose they would have a current one though since it seems they don't have internet (that's whay I got from the article) Maybe you can call to inqure about the mass times. I found this number for them (hope it still works)

Edited to add: I found a Parish website in Virginia that mentions the monastery, here is a little bit: http://www.saintlouisparish.org/poorclare.html It states that Mass at the monastery is celebrated daily at 7:00 a.m. The page was updated a couple of months ago. You could always call to be sure.

I don't think they have a website, but I do know a good friend who is [i]in[/i] that Monastery right now, so if you have any questions, I might be able to answer them for you...

Thanks, Teresa Benedicta - I really don't feel called to that life so I don't want to bother anyone. I would, however, like to attend mass there and will call when I arrive to verify the time. Thanks to everyone else for the info.
