Selah Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Well...here's my dillema. I have a little devotional area that I've set up. It's actually a small table, but I use it as a kind of make shift "altar" (for lack of a better word.) The problem here is, it always gets so dusty, and I find myself having to dust it...alot. It's not that big of a deal, I suppose, but I was thinking of maybe covering it with something, like a pretty cloth of some kind to keep the dust bunnies away (lol). And to make it special and set it a part, of course. But, I'm not sure where...or how to even look. That's where you guys come in! Would you help me out here? Are there any special places online to look? I'd make one myself, but I'm not that good at knitting...lol. Pax! Selah Edited February 16, 2009 by Selah

Selah
Go to your area fabric store and pick a piece of beautiful washable material and buy a yard. Sew a hem around the edges with matching thread and you have it. If you shop the bargain bins you could even afford to change it by the seasons.
angieAugustina Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 you can call your special devotional area a "prayer table." i say get cloths in the liturgical colors:green, gold, white and purple, & unite with the Church calendar! by all means check the remnant bins at your local craft or fabric store. traditional items on a home or classroom prayer table are: Crucifix, candle, Bible, a sprig of some living plant/flower, holy water or blessed oil, all placed on a cloth the color of the liturgical season.
puellapaschalis Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I call mine my "God corner" - even though it's not in a corner (it was in my old house though). I use pillow cases
CatherineM Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 If you can't sew, you can go to a place like Pier One and buy a small table runner, or large linen napkin that might be big enough. I like the idea of doing it in liturgical colors. You can get a can of that stuff you spray on clothes to fix static cling, I forget what it is called, but we used to spray it on displays to keep dust off. The dust won't stick as easily.
Selah Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Those are great ideas! I was thinking of making my own. The liturgical colors sound great! I'll be the first to show it to you all when I am done making it Pax!
