IrishSalesian
using deadly force to protect life? seems counter productive. however, i do see the need to defend life, if the pregnant woman is simply trying to protect, and in the act of protecting she kills thats fine. but to use outright deadly force, no. Shooting someone, for instance. Not counter productive in use against unjust aggressors.
CatherineM
I remember in criminal law the professor talking about how one of the most dangerous times in a woman's life is when she is pregnant. 90% of pregnant women who are murdered are killed by the baby's father. Aloysius
I think that woman should be pardoned by the governor when he signs this legislation. Killing is justified in the defense of human life, especially when the human life you are defending is an innocent child. and yes, deadly force is the type of force that CAN be deadly. when someone's attacking you and likely about to kill your babies within your womb, you don't have time to say "okay, wait, let me make sure I come up with a way to stop him that doesn't kill him"... you shoot him if you have to, and you do it when you have the chance because if he overpowers you and takes your weapon away, that's it... game over. you can't take the time to aim at his legs to disable him, you just point and fire and save your children. anyone about to kill a baby ought to expect death, because their actual according to natural law merits their own death... "whosoever sheddeth a man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God man was created" And I figure I'll just leave hanging the question of an abortion doctor, I'm not saying anything on the subject... just leaving that principal hanging out there. Winchester
What's ridiculous is that she was defending herself from an assault. If someone attacks me, I fight until they are no longer able to fight me. If I have a weapon, I will use it to deliver the most crippling wounds I can. If this were my daughter, I would be ready to keep her out of prison if she were found guilty because it would be unjust imprisonment.
