XIX
It annoyed me to no end when Pronger got to lift the Cup in 2007. Would have much rather seen Buffalo or even Ottawa or Detroit win that year.
SaintOlaf
Coming from you that means a lot. I'd rather be best friends with Claude Lemieux than see Pronger lift another cup.

Should be watching overtime right now, I have no idea what he was thinking.[/quote] The NHL rules state: 85.3 Puck Out of Sight - Should a scramble take place or a player accidentally fall on the puck and the puck be out of sight of the Referee, he shall immediately blow his whistle and stop the play. The puck shall then be faced-off at the nearest face-off spot in the zone where the play was stopped unless otherwise provided for in the rules. The puck was out of his sight. By the time he got to where he should have been for an offensive possession the puck was already in the net.

XIX
9 choose 0 = 1 9 choose 1 = 9 9 choose 2 = 36 36+9+1=46 46*2=92 92/512=.1796 Conclusion: If you were to flip a coin at any given time, the probability of getting 7+ heads OR 7+ tails is roughly 18%. If you were to perform the same exercise three times in a row, the probability of getting 7 either way at least once becomes 45%. My point is this: The fact that the Caps got seven penalties called against them out of a possible nine is not much of an argument for saying the officiating is bad. You can easily flip a coin nine times and get a similar disparity, but that doesn't mean the coin is biased. The fact that two of the penalties against the Caps were delay of game calls makes the disparity even less alarming. And that doesn't even account for such factors as style of play and the way teams sometimes play differently on the road. Once you account for that, there's really not much evidence of officiating bias. I'm not saying the officiating was great or good or anything, but just saying that one team got called for more penalties isn't a very good argument against the referees. Sorry Mr. Brodeau (sp??)
