CatherineM
We called the police last night when we saw a teenager attempting to skateboard off our neighbor's garage roof. The cops basically said to call back if we heard screaming. I guess kids doing stupid, dangerous things is a little too common to warrant a drive by. So this morning, there were police cars and police tape all over the alley. We don't know exact details yet, but the police are interviewing everyone in the building, at least the ones who speak English. They wanted to know if we had any scars or tattoos, and what size shoes we wear. My husband said he wore size 11's. I said he wore 13's. The policeman leaned over and picked up his shoe by the door, and whispered, "she's right." I said he may wear them, but I buy them. That helped break the tension a bit. I guess they had footprints at the scene. I hope we aren't considered suspects. Theology students can be shady. I think I'm still in shock, and it hasn't soaked in good. We don't live in a wealthy neighborhood, but as long as you aren't out at 2am, it's safe. Or so I thought.

VoTeckam
Very scary. It is always unstettling when something violent happens in or near our homes. I pray that you and your husband remain safe.

My husband loves to read and has loads of books, mostly military history. How creepy to have had a murder so close to home! I used to live in a dangerous neighborhood, and heard gunshots from time to time, but no murders while I was living there.
CatherineM
Finally got some information. It was a woman in her 60's. They are calling it suspicious until the autopsy is done, but the homicide detectives are doing the investigation. If it was a knifing or a shooting, they would already have called it a murder without waiting for the autopsy. That means a strangulation or a head injury/beating kind of thing. I didn't know her. They had only lived there a few days. It was her, her son in law, and a niece.
CatherineM
It seems so strange to watch the news, and see your home in the background.
