CatherineM
They officially called it murder today. Autopsy said head injury/blunt object. A police car has sat behind our house all day. She had a couple of pop up trailers in her parking space, and they are parked to block them almost as if they are afraid someone is going to take them. It's possible they are just preserving the crime scene, or they are watching for someone.

You can get away with many things here if done with a sense of humor or politeness, but we don't do mean. Kindly take notice.

You have a knack for finding the action, haven't you?
Suburbs are boring. Inner City is where the action is. I'm sure the whole thing hasn't really sunk in good, because all we have focused on is the excitement (meaning the out of the ordinariness), the fear of being under suspicion, and the whole circus atmosphere, rather than thinking about the woman who lost her life. When the police finally leave, when they make an arrest (originally it appeared to be someone who lived in the house, but now they don't know who), and things settle down, I'm sure I will begin to grieve. I agree, it's not very well worded if that's the intention, and if it's not it's really uncalled for. But Joey and I always joke that when something like this happens to one of us that we won't get to be a martyr yet. Maybe we're just morbid though. CatherineM
The police cars finally left this morning. I guess if they were waiting on CSI to finish, or for someone to show up, it finally happened. I suspect it was a CSI issue because yesterday on the south side of town a guy shot up a couple of stores in a strip mall, killing one person, and then himself. A private residence can be tied up for a few days waiting, but a big strip mall has owners that are depending on being able to be re-opened as quickly as possible. I suspect the tech guys were down there. We hadn't had a murder here in over 2 months, and then boom. It's Spring, and all the basement denizens are out on the street after a long winter cooped up. Although we did get snow yesterday, it has been nice for over a week. I'm just glad the police cars have left. The elderly woman who drove me home from church last night didn't like having to drive past them to drop me off.
HisChildForever
I got confused with the boy on the skateboard bit. Was it he who was found deceased, or is it speculated that he is the criminal?

Nihil Obstat
We called the police last night when we saw a teenager attempting to skateboard off our neighbor's garage roof. The cops basically said to call back if we heard screaming. I guess kids doing stupid, dangerous things is a little too common to warrant a drive by. So this morning, there were police cars and police tape all over the alley. We don't know exact details yet, but the police are interviewing everyone in the building, at least the ones who speak English. They wanted to know if we had any scars or tattoos, and what size shoes we wear. My husband said he wore size 11's. I said he wore 13's. The policeman leaned over and picked up his shoe by the door, and whispered, "she's right." I said he may wear them, but I buy them. That helped break the tension a bit. I guess they had footprints at the scene. I hope we aren't considered suspects. Theology students can be shady. I think I'm still in shock, and it hasn't soaked in good. We don't live in a wealthy neighborhood, but as long as you aren't out at 2am, it's safe. Or so I thought.
Proof that skateboarding is evil and the work of the devil. It may be a weird coincidence that we had to call the police just a few hours before someone was murdered about 20 yards away. It's possible that they may have been living in the house since the woman moved in just a day or so before she was killed. I hadn't seen them in the neighborhood before. Considering her age, they were the right age to be grandkids, and they identified her as a 65 year old grandmother in the press. The cops really looked around the storage building and garage. I suspect they were looking for the weapon that killed her.
