I got hit by a the Gospel book before Mass and the priest did it on purpose.

Later I asked him "Why did you do that to me". He said "you needed it son".
I like your bishop. :)
(Almost as much as mine. ;) He's getting investigated for hate speech.)

I knew some stuff. The archbishop didn't ask us squat. Was disappointed. Of the 50 who got confirmed, very few have stepped back into a church since.

I guess I should clarify. Since confirmation, I have seen very few of the people in my class since then.

congratulations and welcome to the real Family! (the Phamily is great too of course!) did you happen to see anything significant like say, in the picture above?

*sigh* how hard is it to sincerely read a one-page profile from the Lives of the Saints..
http://sacred-texts.com/chr/lots/index.htm (my favorite version for daily reading, mostly because of it's description style and very moving reflections)

i would make it a requirement for confirmandi to read at least some of any version of the Lives of the Saints. next to the Bible, i think it's the most inspiring Christian text for new Christians ever. (with The Imitation of Christ being the next level.)

then i would have them set their homepages to something like http://www.universalis.com

then i would make field trips to convents, seminaries, and monasteries to inspire vocations..

and i would show them the "emergency clothes" that would be provided for violating proper dress code on confirmation day..

these oughta set some fires ablazing!
Congrats, my bishop says the same. He is upset when Confirmation kids don't know the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit. No wonder I teach Confirmation now :)
I get my BA in Theology in two weeks from Franciscan University and I don't know the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit

I know the ten commandments, the precepts of the Church, the cardinal and theological virtues, the last 7-8 popes, the number of ecumenical councils (According to the Roman Church), the correct posture throughout the liturgy, most of the words to the Eucharistic prayers, the twenty mysteries of the rosary, the doctrinal teachings of the Church on Mary, several Christological heresies and how to combat them, etc though :lol_roll:

I should go memorize the 7 gifts... :saint:

Hello to everyone! :waves:

New to the phorum, thought I'd hop in with my experience. Newly confirmed as of this Easter vigil (yay!!) but was confirmed by my parish priest so I didn't go through the grilling that some of you described. My given name is Peyton but my SN was my confirmation name, pretty obvious which my patrons are. :) I have a deep connection with the Carmelite spirituality...had I been lucky enough to have been raised Catholic I'd probably be in a habit right now.

I agree, I will have the scent of Chrism in my mind for a very long time.

Thanks for having me along, love to all my new brothers and sisters!

P.S. This is a wonderful resource for me...I am a loner, the sole Catholic convert in a VERY Southern Baptist family.

Pax Christi!

Congratulations on your Confirmation! Our youth are being confirmed next month, feast of the Ascension. Please keep them in your prayers!
My bishop did ask me about my confirmation Saint before I was confirmed, but I think I could only remember the gruesome details. I chose St. Cecilia, by the way. I made a poor choice of sponsor though, so I remember very little of my confirmation, unfortunately. Amazingly, I still received the gifts of the spirit and that really launched me on my way to finding out so much more about the Catholic faith and deepening my relationship to Our Lord which eventually led me here (somewhere along the way). He is so good to us.

congratulations! keep going, keep growing everyday. if you're not growing and moving forward, you're falling backwards. God chose you out of the family for a reason! someone may be needing the fullness of our faith, which they can get through you..

it's probably time for you to checkout the Vocation Station forum. here, i'll link it for you http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showforum=17 :)
