CatherineM
what did he finally do?
Something involving a field of wildflowers back in Saskatchewan where she is from. It was so anti-climatic at that point, that no one really cared, after hearing about it for a solid year. When is he going to do it. Make sure you talk to him and tell him it can't be a ring in a roll at dinner. It was horrific. She had him so messed up in the head, I thought he was going to have a stroke. We were all expecting bridezilla. She is a red head, so we are all scared of her.

Once they got married, they both calmed down. This is what happens when you get to 40 without having been married before. He has 10 siblings, and all have been divorced except the one who goes to seminary with me (he's the one I almost knocked out with my yo-yo). I think that made him kind of gun shy. txdinghysailor
I'm gonna take my girl out to this point on a lake. It's fairly isolated, and there's a group of boulders that are right on the edge of the water. When it's windy the waves splash against the rocks and spray you with chilly lake water. I'm going to take her out there one day when it's windy, and sunny, and we're going to go sailing, then we're going to go to this point after lunch, and i'm gonna pop the question. dominicansoul
my dad proposed to my mom during Holy Hour of Adoration in the very back pews of their gothic sized Church.... This was pre-Vatican II.... ...my mom always wondered if she should have allowed him to even talk to her when everyone should have been silent!!! ...but Dad figured he needed God to be in on it too..... My mom didn't say yes but she emphatically nodded her head. She was speechless Well, I think it was romantic.
My dad proposed to my mom on the way to tell my grandparents they were getting married. He was like, "Oh, by the way, you do want to get married, right?" They've been married 34 years now, so it must've been effective. But I gotta say I admire her for not being pressured into saying yes because of the setting.
Brigid
This guy was really good friends with this girl and was in love with her but she didn't know it. The two went on a vacation to Rome together and he bought her a Rosary. The Rosary's crucifix could be opened and had a small place where one could put something. The guy got a small piece of paper and wrote "Will you marry me" on it. A few years later, the two were dating and the girl still had her rosary. One day in adoration, the guy told her to open her rosary. She took out the piece of paper and he asked her if she would marry him.
righteous b. oh yes.
Ok, I'm a dork. Now that the topic is on my mind I keep thinking of all these cool things. I have a tripod and a really nice SLR camera that I use for photography, so I can be like, "Hey lets get a picture of the two of us with the sunset behind us." and I can set up the camera with a 10 second timer to do continuous shooting and after I set the camera, go walk over to her and propose.
DO IT!!! that would be an incredible moment to have pictures of. you would just have to make sure the camera would still capture you down on one knee. the cemetery idea sounds very romantic, though. I kind of like that one better.

With me, it was also a practical matter, because I'm allergic to gold. He did end up getting me a ring with his birthstone a month or two before we got married, though. Oh, and he proposed while we were walking around a lake at my parents' house. I'd had a rough day teaching, and he just held my hand and asked me. I was a little taken aback, and I think I just said "of course!".

StColette
Micah proposed to me at the Stations of the Cross at Franciscan. I was an hour and half late to my own proposal lol And a friend of ours tricked me into going to the Stations to talk with her about "boy troubles". Micah came strolling down the steps to the Stations and asked to go for a little walk. Needless to say I knew something was up at the this point. He knelt down between the third and fourth Stations (where Christ falls for the first time and meets his mother). He had this big elaborate speech, which I didn't hear a word of lol. I had to have him repeat it later that evening lol. Being a Theology major the speech was laden with typology and Theological references to Christ and his Bride. lol I didn't even say yes, I just shock my head lol. Come to find out sometime later that we weren't alone on the Stations. On the Stations above us were Father Johnathan and about 30 or so people who had stopped to watch the entire thing happen. lol And I don't have a diamond either. Mine is a blue topaz for Mary it does have three small diamonds on either side of the blue topaz though.
