KnightofChrist
The problem is paul says the spirit explicitly says in the last times some will depart from the faith and they will forbidd marriage. Now i'm not throwing nobody under the bus or saying that does the church in. All i'm saying it is my opinon roman catholic priest and bishops should be able to have wives if they so desire. I am allowed to have an opinon.
Your opinion is wrong. Okey Dokey.
tinytherese
Actually, there have been cases where married male protestant ministers converted to catholicism and received special permission to be allowed into the priesthood. The just had to get a dispensation from Rome.

Priestly celibacy is a church discipline and could be changed.

By not allowing priest to marry you miss out on alota good priest.
Adrestia
Married men can be ordained. The permanent diaconate was restored with VatII. I would question the motives of a married man that felt called to be a priest, but would not become a deacon.

I will not though fall into idolatry of the pope. I dont need to be insulted when I defend something that is biblical and on top of that the celibacy isnt even a doctrine. Point black knight of christ was out of line and got me fired up.

I dont know why you would since we are in such need of priest. I would think they would be celebrated for the serivce they were about to give to the church. It's just that we're hijacking a thread that really isn't about this. It's not fair to Ad. Discussions can be moved.
