Brother Adam

There will always be evil men in this world and thus there will always be a need for a strong national defense in every nation. We don't know when the next Hitler will rise. Likely Christianity will have to fight Islam for the right to exist again within the next 100 years. If we are going to have a strong national defense then we need people to join armed services.

Because when one looks at the Islamic world in terms od demographics, geopolitical trajectory, and economic viability it's clear that the "Christian" would is going to have to fight to survive? Better keep the horses well fed and the troops ready, lord knows Indonesia's on the brink of posing an existential threat to America.

No offense, but I think you've been watching a bit too much Fox News.

it is no more unlikely then anything else.

Christians had to fight once to exist. The Islamic population is growing and has a very active radical minority with the very agenda of doing such a thing.

it could happen just as you could come back to the church. everything is a possibility.

If war can't be justified, then what is the point of the Catholic just war doctrine?

It was formulated in a time very different to our own.
You know, Resurrexi, you don't have to agree with every single decision or position of the Church on every single matter (not talking about authoritive teachings here).

It is good to have your own mind and make decisions based on your own reasoning.
You're only 15, you'll learn.

The Pope's point was that given the modern reality of warfare, the criteria for a just war may no longer be fufillable
