theculturewarrior Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 My conversion story, briefly is... Had difficult childhood, without religious upbringing (parents were lapsed Catholics). Dropped out of high school, fell on hard times and I started reading a Gideon's New Testament someone had given me. In April, 1996, I "accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior," by signing the contract in the back. Spent about 5 years as a lukewarm "baby Christian," while, (through the intercession of St. Dymphna), recuperating from disease, and dealing with some tough facts of life. In the end, I realized that to be truly Christian, I at least needed to go to Church, and I had always been attracted to Catholicism (the Faith of my fathers). My mother and I began attending church. I was baptized, confirmed, and received First Communion on Easter Vigil, 2001. My life is in order now, and it is getting better. But pray for me!
Fiat_Voluntas_Tua Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 It is funny...at first i gave credit to my friends for me converting to the Catholic Church, but than I realized, they only educated me...It was the Holy Spirit that converted my heart. If we are trying to evangelize, we need to educate; because if people are educated of The Catholic Church they will be moved by the Holy Spirit to convert to the Catholic Church.
