i'm so happy that i can eat hummus again! i couldn't while pregnant because every variety i found was made with garlic and pregnant me + garlic = heartburn for days!

First had it 30+ years ago at an Armenian restaurant. Was the best thing EVER.

Unfortunately, I hadn't placed the order, and had no idea what it was called. (Also, to shy/dumb to just ask my uncle.)

That started a 10 year quest of library research and cooking various middle eastern purees. (BTW, baba ghanoush is pretty nice too.) FINALLY found it, along with stores where I could buy the ingredients.

Of course, nowadays you can buy hummus at a convenience store.

I like to make my own pita chips. I get pita bread from the store and then cut it up and brush it with herbs and melted butter. Bake it for a few minutes till it's crispy.
