Upcoming Entrances

Dear Lauren,

I said a prayer to St. Anthony regarding your suitcase. I laughed when I read your post because it reminded me of my own circumstances before I moved last year. I managed to lose my birth certificate, passport, and my luggage was lost by the airline. I cried more than I had in my entire life. I'm holding you up in prayer and praying for your mother especially. It will all come together at the last minute and you will wonder why you ever worried. I've discovered that this is the way God likes to do thingss. Also, if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. The RSM family is very dear to me. My mother has spent quite a bit of time in a Mercy hospital and the sisters were always so good to her!

I also can't find my birth cert. grrrr.
I plan to send most of my daily needs by mail so I don't loose them, I plan just to have a carry on with me.

I had to get a copy when I entered the Lockport Nuns, but I was living with my father at the time, so I don't know if it's at his house, oh I hate having to bug him to let me in just to look for it.

Sending your stuff thru the mail might be easier then taking things to the airport. and you can track our stuff, but on the plane you can't do that

As far as my suitcase goes, it was actually lost in the mail. A friend brought it back from Rome for me and then mailed it USPS, and it still hasn't gotten here. Please feel free to pester St. Anthony for me... he may be sick of listening to me gripe at this point. )

Concerning the shoes, have you looked at ecco? That's where i got mine. It's a very solid brand which has both more fashionable and... er... "timeless" models... and super-comfy to boot.

It's ironic, i was just done But I'm looking forward to next year when I can just get the bag from the bottom of my closet and be on my merry way in ten seconds flat! People [i]really[/i] underestimate the amount of stuff involved into taking a vow of poverty My dad is so good at finding the strangest things now (thick black knee highs during the height of summer) that he's considering becoming an "entrance planner", like some people have a wedding planner.

You've still got time. You'll make it. And if you really can't find something in time you might be able to order it online and have it sent directly to the convent.

I, too, am finally posting my entrance date, both because I finally know, praise God! and need many prayers as well. It has been a very difficult summer, not only for me (I at least was expecting it--and trying to offer it up as well as I could!) but for my family members, who have varying to adamantly no- faith life, and do not like or support the idea of me going at all. After the drastic step of up and leaving home to stay with friends for a week, they are accepting the idea of me going. This is a big step. I wasn't expecting it, so thanks be to our Merciful God! I do feel like I'm complaining, and it must be said that I know my family loves me, and they simply do not understand the cloistered life, and think they are trying to keep me from making a huge mistake. They are wonderful people--just sometimes there's suffering in a girl's entrance. At least we will all be rejoicing in Heaven.

So, thank you very much for your prayers, and to get to the point finally, I am entering the Poor Clares in St. Louis, on September 12, the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary! Thank God for peace and holy joy!

Yes please do pray for me also, I have had a very trying time this summer, for one my dog may have a brain tumor, other then my emotions ... I am just so excited!

A little update for all of those who are praying for me: you're prayers are working! Keep them coming!!!
So...
1. My dresses are almost finished
2. I found shoes (and paid a fortune for them to fit my size 11 feet!)
3. My suitcase never arrived. I bought new LOTH books.
4. I have a coat. It's very warm. I also have snow boots
5. Found my birth certificate. Now I can't find my SS card. hmph
6. Mom's still being difficult. Thats okay though.

I've got three intentions I need help praying for.

First off, I have a friend, Erin, entering the Sisters of Life this Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2009.

Secondly, my friend, Elizabeth, is entering the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus in Kirkwood, MO on Sept. 8th, 2009. She asked me to pray for her on Sept. 7th, 2009, as well because that's when she will arrive at the convent and spend the last night with her family in the guest rooms. I think she is really starting to feel that it's all becoming real for her, so please pray for her.

Last, but not least, my friend, Emily, is entering the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa), WI on Sept. 8th, 2009. I have not heard from her recently, but I am continuing to pray for her entrance.

Funnily enough, all their names start with an 'E.'

LOL, my friend, Elizabeth, asked me that. She was like, "Here I am, going to a convent where the vow of poverty is taken, and I'm bringing a whole trunk full of stuff." She called it her "nun trunk." So cute!

Well, my two friends have entered the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus! I am so excited and happy for them, especially Elizabeth since she has waited since November 2007 (when she received her acceptance into the order) to finish college before she could enter. I know Our Lady is watching over them and keeping them so close. I can't wait to see the pictures of their entrance on the websites.


Let's continue to pray for all those who entered today and those who will be entering later this week (Sept. 12th).
