soft sift
I know that many churches offer Perpetual Adoration, with the Eucharist exposed for everyone to come and pray. For those of us whose churches are unable to offer this - I belong to a small mission parish that doesn't even have a priest - it's still usually possible to go visit Jesus in the tabernacle. My question is, what's the difference? Surely His presence isn't contained or blocked off from us somehow? But if there is no difference, why the monstrance? Thank you. Pontifex
Your time spent in front of the tabernacle with no monstrance is very valuable, grace filled, and essential. With Eucharistic Adoration, the presence of Jesus is highlighted to the senses and gives us a special time to gaze upon him with the eyes of faith without the hinderance of a closed compartment. Both are valuable, yet, when Jesus is demonstrated, (which is what monstrance means) it is an even more special encounter with him. Happy Adoring, Fr.
