Sojourner
temp agency?
Yes. There are a number of temporary staffing agencies that provide contract work for companies that need short-term help. Manpower is one I've worked for in the past, also Kelly Services. I'm not sure what the ones are in your area. I've done things ranging from secretarial/reception work to working in customs at an auto manufacturer to grading standardized tests. The pay is typically decent, and they typically have work for a variety of experience levels.

CatherineM
I went to church with a woman in Oklahoma who had made a career out of being a Kelly girl. She had a list of places that she did 2-4 weeks at while their assistants or secretaries were on vacation every year. She liked it because it was different, and she never stayed any place long enough to get crushed by office politics.
