So Today I Was Mowing The Grass...

Ah, but you have to experience it at least once in your life! :)
There's no feeling like the feeling of the moisture inside your nostrils turning solid, and the air being so cold that you can't breath in through your mouth because it chokes you.

I am quite content with the weather I have here-but thank you. If I ever have such an urging I ll go to Alaska and have tea with Sarah.

Totally understand about the stump, PG. :) Back when I was a field archaeologist doing CRM work, it always felt so good to pound through the oak roots when digging my 30cm square, 1m deep hole every 30m (we were assessing whether there were any sites on the land before it was developed). Definitely got rid of any stress or pent-up anger.
I mowed the lawn too today. :) There was a steep hill and lots of ant hills. I don't like ants, especially when I'm worried they're crawling up my legs.
It didn't take as long as it took you. Probably because the stump is in the front, and it's a long term project for the time being.
Just be glad they weren't fire ants. :saint:

And Eagle Eye was sweet and took a quick look at it but he was literally walking out the door for his class. So luckily the mower looked fine. And before he left I got a talk on why you don't flip the mower over. (I will never make that mistake agian). So I cut some more and the mower was acting kind of funny. Wonderful! The grass needs to be cut and I ran over a bunch of wood. Though to my defense it was covered by grass. So I didn't know it was there till a really loud and funny noise stopped me in my tracks. And I was also in that "mood" of "don't you dare think about getting in my way". I stopped mowing, mostly to let the mower get a break (hopefully later it would be fine) went to the garage and came out with the shovel and hachett. I spent a full hour digging/ chopping (though it was mostly digging) and got that stump out. And it felt so awesome. I was so exhilarated. It was awesome. :flex: And thanks be to God- the mower was fine so I spent another hour mowing. However one of my favorite images kept flashing in my mind.

Anyway I am sure there are many times where you just get in that "mood" and you go and conquer all. :topsy: Ok I admit removing a small stump is hardly "conquering all". However it really helped my week and mood. And when push comes to shove- women can be pretty awesome.

Please feel free to share similar stories.

God Bless

EDIT: Not to mention that I was feeling totally feisty. :weights:

The one we're working on in the front yard is about three feet across, plus a massive root system. :sadwalk:
beaver dam those poplars.
Ah, poplar trees. We had about six of them at our first house. Hubby and his brothers brought them down. Hubby and I axed, shoveled, cursed the roots out. And they are massive as you know. I will say it kept my frustration in check. And it really felt good when we finally finished and saved us tons of money.

Then took out bushes at this house and practically killed my back. Not one of my better ideas. But it looks nice now! :topsy:

Um....Princess, darling, Tulip trees are not Poplar trees. Although I am sure they are pretty. Maybe you would be interested in a botany class?

Yea, but us women push the men to do things as well. Just say "I`m so weak. I need a strong man to move this for me." or something like that.

This is why when I cut down a tree, I cut the stump flush with the ground. how come you're not supposed to flip the mower over? I've had to do that a few times and never had any problems.

Becuase of the gas and the oil. This is my guess.

Elizabeth09 is right on the ball. When you flip the mower-it can cause the gas and oil to leak. Getting gas and oil in areas that probably aren't the most idealist.

Even more importantly: don't flip it while it's running.

Tulip trees are the bestest! :woot:

only thing is that they generally don't last too many year. :sadwalk:
