takebacktonight Posted September 30, 2009 Share Posted September 30, 2009 The ex-Bishop of OUR DIOCESE (not the priest's) who sat across from a man who had been abused by a priest and whose brother had commited suicide over his own abuse to settle a 13 million dollar lawsuit over sexual abuse of parishoners, resigned mysteriously on Sunday. HE RESIGNED BECAUSE HE WAS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. For months and months...he feigned contrition, pretended to try to understand the pain and hurt and deceit that many people had undergone at the hands of the church, only himself to be a disgusting filthy PEDOPHILE. Unless there is a major uprising, where the church is taken back by the laity...there is absolutely no way I will continue to try and get close. Do not pray for this man. However, it is comforting to remember that while men may be corrupt, the Catholic Church has Jesus and the power to forgive sins. Even if the priest who provides the absolution is a sinner himself, your sins are forgiven as those words are said. You make your peace with God. No other Church has Jesus in them. No other Church holds Mary in such high esteem. No other Church will give me the comfort of knowing that thousands of saints are up there praying for me and helping me. It is a sad state. I know. However, there is more to the Church than corrupt men. Know one can change your mind. No one can tell you what to do.
