Top Reasons To Be Married

RemnantRules

Recommended Posts

For all my married peeps (and those that like married peeps):

A friend of mine is posting a blog about the top 50 reasons to stay single. So I was curious and went to Google and see if there was any top reasons to be married. There was very little and that made me sad. SO...I decided I wanted to create one! I wanted others input though. So I'm asking everyone to list their top reasons for being married. It can be serious, funny, thoughtful, spiritual, or just plain weird. Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Thank you in advance!

God Bless!

3. Not having to say goodbye every night to the person you love / waking up with that person next to you in the morning.

(apologize if that's not what you're looking for - we've only been married eight days)

4. I have someone I can count on to go with me to events, both fun and obligatory.
5. On cold nights, there is nothing like snuggling up to your honey. Especially when he is warm and your feet are cold.
6. There's always someone who will laugh at my jokes, lame though they may be.
7. Puking isn't so bad when you have someone rubbing your back and ready with water and paper towels. Even if he is wearing your robe because that's all he could find.
8. Staying in a hospital overnight is less scary when someone is sleeping in the chair next to you.
9. Watching the person you love and who you've committed to spending your life with become a parent is an incredible experience. I wouldn't trade that for the world.
10. Arguments lead to making up, which is good. Very good.

I just heard a commercial about marriage and they said "Marriage: The only time you get to pick a family member!" I thought it was cute and very true.

There's someone to witness life with you -- the good, bad, funny, sad, and so on.

You don't have to go Christmas tree hunting by yourself.

There's something really great about someone who sees your imperfections and promises to love you in spite of them.

Everyday, you learn something new about love and about forgiveness.

You develop a deeper understanding of what God's love for humanity is like.

Thanks for starting this thread ... I have to say it is fun to think about why marriage is so awesome. Everyone told us that the first year is really tough, but we have really enjoyed our marriage so far. We've gone through difficult things and stressful things, and had a lot of change in the last year, but for us the difficulties have pulled us closer together.

You are quite welcome! :saint: I was also inspired to start this b/c on Yahoo News there was an article of how the "traditional family" is dead in this country. :annoyed: So sad.

*Editor's Note about Thread* My wife inform me of one thing I should point out that is true; There is nothing wrong with singlehood. :saint: I know if God is calling anyone to remain chaste and single for the rest of their lives that is AWESOME! The inspiration of this thread was in response to how the world and secular society sees marriage as bad. I pray for all those who are discerning their Vocations in life!

Again, thank you for all the comments and feedback!

LOL! I used to always puke from anxiety or excitement. One time it was at a bus stop at Navy Pier in Chicago. I just hid behind a trashcan and started puking, and Hubs just stood there rubbing my head saying, "You couldn't make it to that bush?" It's odd - puking and laughing and it having nothing to do with alcohol.

I'm compiling all of these and making a poster.

Reason to be Married: Rolling out of bed to feed the baby, and having him grab my hand and tell me, "You do wonderful job!"
